Yeh, yeh, yeh!!! Beat up on the OP why don't you........LOL!!! Don't worry, I'm a big boy and can take it. Sorry, I didn't even look for a tire&rim section. Sure helps getting the info I need when in the right one I guess. I think I'll be going with the Firstone A/T's. This is a primary street/grocery getter that the wife drives 75% of the time. But will see some offroad trailriding from time to time, but nothing too extreme that calls for aggressive mt's. So a well mannered A/T with good trail ability is a must. And mud is definately not my thing.

I am so ashamed...I have gone to a HT for the first time since 2002. I have always had MTs and ATs...but since it is much harder to do any offroading around here...have gone to ATs. Went with some Toyp Open Country HTs...they ride much better than stock and will probably be a bit better for MPG. Still are a 235/75/16...

you got to admit for the money its not a bad tire.

No, not by any stretch of the imagination is it a BAD tire...it's just that if you're after an AT, the BFG is, IMO, the way to go since they wear forever...and if you're gonna get double the mileage for $50-75 extra bucks a tire, I don't see any reason not to

Don't take that as me being a BFG fanboy or anything...there are tons of other tires I would personally run on my vehicles other than the BFG AT (basically, either an HT or an MT...don't see a whole lot of reason to be going in between)

Darby, the Toyo HTs are awesome (and the ATs are pretty good too). Put a set on my mom's Sequoia.

I like my Toyo AT's. But I don't have any experience with the Firestones.

I’ve read several off-road reviews about the Toyo A/T’s and all the reviews have been very positive. A recent review rated them as good at BFG KO‘s. The Toyo A/T’s are also known for good on-road manners, especially for towing. My goal is to have a good A/T tire that I can use for towing the camper and still be able to hit the trails when I’m not towing. I’m sure the Firestone Destinations and BFG KO’s would be excellent also, but I wanted to try a Toyo. I seriously considered the Michelin LTX A/T 2, but I decided to stick with the cheaper Toyo‘s. I think I will put the Michelin LTX A/T 2’s on my Dodge whenever my factory Michelin LTX M/S wear out, they seem to go forever……….. 40,000 on my factory Michelins and I think they can go easily another 20,000.

Ah, I am only curious to hear what the Toyo's did better. Today, for me, tire shopping is very confusing so I try to get as much opinion as possible. My thought on the toyo was they are are better choice for constant off road given the Firestone's "cut-friendly" sidewall.

I've been happy with the Firestones personally, but always wonder what else I could have gotten. Especially the LTX A/T2's...

Surprisingly the LTX A/T2's rated pretty high in the off-road reviews. Every off-road review that I read had doubts that the Michelin LTX A/T2’s were going to be very effective off-road, however the authors were actually surprised. Granted, most of the off-road testing wasn’t anything extreme, however, they did air down and put them through mud, sand, and rock. The Toyo’s also got a high rating from all the reviews I read. Neither Michelin or the Toyo’s had any sidewall problems whereas many A/T tires have soft sidewalls. Firestone and a few others have been docked for having soft sidewalls, hence reducing there overall score for being a good off-road tire.

I have been runing 265-70-16 Destination Ats for 30k miles on an 02 with a Rustys spacer lift. Tires only rub slightly at full turn. Have not warn any spots in the inner fender which are still stock and rarely rub off road. Tires have worn on the inside fronts have rotated and now after 30k have reversed them to last about another 10k. They have done as good as can be expected from an AT. Miss mudders for the slippery stuff.[/img]
