My MT-R's have been superb aired down to 15psi and wheeling from the deserts of SE Utah to the swamps of SE Florida. Mine have about 40K miles on them and still have plenty of tread. When/if they need replacing, I'd roll this new version!

I like the new mtr/kevlar as we all know the mtr is an exellent tire and also as we all know, nothing ends the day like a sidewall puncture, and anything you can do to reduce that, the better. Around here they are priced competitively aganst km2's. However

THEY ARE DIRECTIONAL, you CANT use your spare in your rotation and your 50% screwed as to weather your spare will work for you.

ALSO they don't make them in 235 85 r16

I really wanted to buy these tires, if for nothing else than to compare them to km2 and old mtr. I almost hope the mtr-k's suck :P Because i just bought 5 km2's.

Maby i should have gotten the mtr-k x4 and an mtr x1 for spare? ah well.

They're asymmetrical, not directional

The more I look at them the more I want to see them in person and on the trails.

That's strange because JP magazine did a quick write-up on them and said they didn't like them because they were directional........... :?

Looking at the tread, they are asymmetrical. Check out the pic of the white F150 in Inc's post

I guess I read it wrong, "We're digging the asymmetrical and directional rubber with aggressive sidewall lugs and what we assume are Kevlar belts. But we're not digging left and right side specific tires." - JP mag.

These are high on my list when I replace my original MT/Rs. THey are kinda funky looking but they are supposed to be a great tire. We'll see.

I do, but I have a set of MT/Rs in my garage. The 33x12.5x15 are only $191 each too, not bad at all.

From JP’s blog:

“My issue was still the directional look of the tire, which was explained away as the angle that the outer tread block comes off the tread kind of negates the angle of the tread block in the tread pattern. It wasn't until I stuck a JK shod with them in a mud pit and purposely clogged the tires up, and then cleared em out with a bit of wheelspeed that I was convinced. Both sides cleared out at the same time, regardless of the "direction" I thought it should have been going. After a day out messing around with the new tires, I'm sold. I can't wait to get a set on my XJ (which has the "old" MT/R) on it for a head to head comparison on the same Jeep.”

I hope I get a chance to wheel with someone that has them before I ever drop some coin on them. Assuming I end up deciding to anyway.

I'm running the old MT/Rs, and just wanted to know what everyone thought about them. I use them on the beach mainly, but I'am concerned that they are to aggresive for sand, and will end up just digging me into the sand. These tires look so good on my Cragar Soft 8's though. :D

ill get all the stats on them for yall on how they compare to the current mtr from work today and post it tonight when i get home... the only things i remember off hand that is significantly better is sidewall puncture resistance and wet traction.

Inc, let us know when you get them installed, I’d like to know how they roll on the highway. This might be a nice “all-purpose” tire that is good for all seasons and for all types of wheelin’.

I'll give a review when I get em. Someone may get them before me though.

The one review I have heard of them that they are better then the old style MT/R's,better then the Trxus M/T's,and about on par with Interco's LTB's.Of course this is a trail only rig so no reports on the on-road performance, they where mounted on a TJ by the way.

Supposedly, they are better on road as well, from the local guy running them on his truck. Supposedly super quiet for an MT.
