i went and talked to the guy that i mentioned, he said the set on his xj ever since they were new acted like the belts were broken but since it was his xj he didn't care too much, said they had been balanced at least 5 times, same with alignment and he tried the plastic bb thing as well, said the michelins he had on before it lasted about 80k miles

he did however mention that his uncle had bought as set as well for his silverado and had the same problem with 1 tire which walmart replaced and he hasn't had a problem since

sounds like a LOT problem like you run into with some of the continental AWD tires that after about 30k miles make about as much racket as super swampers

I had a set of 245/75/r16s put on on Saturday. I've put maybe 50 miles on them in the last 5 days but they've been great so far. They're very quiet (compared to the MT/Rs I had on previously), handle light snow well, and handle corners quite well.

We'll see what more miles bring but I'm happy with my purchase so far.

And this IS with the GY Authority, right? Or am I still mixed up? I tried reading this thread twice, and ... nothing... lol.

I would consider a LOAD C over the LOAD E range. Most people who buy the LOAD E complain about road noise, stiff ride, the extra weight, and the lack of sidewall flex.

I have LOAD E for 65 K miles. Plenty of flex off road and the MT/Rs are fine as far as road noise.

I had Load Range E MT/Rs as well that were unbearably noisy from 40-55 mph. They were in good shape but nearing their wear life.

Tire noise complaints on a jeep...this always strikes me funny...

Anyhoo....

Except for ice traction, I am happy with the 245 e-rated MT/R's. I have rotated them every 6K and my only issue has been 2 that needed rebalanced after 6K. But it isn't that big of deal, considering that I drive well over the speed imit often and above their speed rating regularly. After 12K, I bet I'll see 40-45K of usable tread life.

Do any of you have pics of the Jeep with these on?
I'm curious.

I have a set on my liberty (Goodyear Authority), for a few thousand miles now. Two long road trips, one to Big Bear, Ca and one to Moab, UT , daily driving to work and some off road here in Arizona and in Moab. Have been in mud, rocks, gravel, slick rock, sand, pavement, rain and snow. The tires have preformed well on all surfaces with the proper air adjustments for the terrain, with one major problem area.....the Authority's do not seem to be able to shed rocks and gravel from the tread, at all! the Kane springs road leading to cliff hanger and hurrah pass/chicken corners has been graded and fresh gravel is on the road surface, makes the trip to the trails great. but on my way home i found that the gravel would not come out of the tread on its own and when i arrived back in Moab i needed to remove some by hand, (never had this problem with BFG all terrains on other vehicles). on the long road trip back to Arizona they just keep hanging on, most i hadn't noticed before, they where in-bedded into the treads themselves, in the sipping and had worked their way, all the way into the tread, i had to remove some with pliers and a screw driver. OK, we have all had a few pieces of gravel stuck in the treads, but this was bad, every tread gap and most sipping was filled with gravel, weird, never had this happen with any tire Ive ran on any other vehicular Ive own. Other than that issue Ive been pleased with them so far, i am curios to see what kind of millage i will get out of a set, i have seen just over a 32nd of tread gone so far. just my :2cents:
