Unfortunately just one week before I found out about L.O.S.T. I had 4 Dunlop Rover 235/70-16 installed. $550. with alignment.. I didn't know about all the extra toys available. But before I had good Year Fortura's ,last year Denver went for about 8 straight week of a blizzard dumping every 6 days more and more snow. I loved the Liberty instantly my ride before a '95 Dakota 4x4 5.2L had the armor plating but was prone to high centering and being usless in the snow. The Fortura's were smooth on dry roads but just a little snow and they were worthless. Very disappointing and overrated, and I've been a big fan of Good Year for years but would never recommend the Fortura. The Dunlops also owned by good year have been very dependable just waiting for a good snow storm to go out and play in the snow just to see how much better these are I've already been pleased with wet pavement handleing. Now that I know I can goose the size up a little more I will next time around. 8)

Moose was it the narrow tires and / or tire tread that really made a difference? I know the narrow ones would help but would think tread would as well, looks like a good time was had by all!
Would be an interesting test to do with different kids / brands

It was a combination of airing down to 9 or 10 psi, tread and width. Those big rigs had MT's too, and were down to 8psi. Width was the biggest difference.

Sorry for the HiJack, it seemed moderatly relevent to the virtues of the 235/85  (and it's a cool jeep game for your next jeep party!)

Moose - so what's the best aired down pressure for the KJ on 235's? I used to do 12PSI on the 245/75/R15s on Moabs. Can I get by with 10 or 8 PSI on the 235/85/R16 on stock rims?

The Timberline MT's are "E", so your experience may differ.... I've run trails with them at 24, and they might as well have been at 35 - no flex. I went down to 14 at my last trip out, and was pleased with the effect. both in ride and grip. I ventured down to the 9-10 range for that game, and I think you could see the tire flex in the picture of the black unlimited with KJ steel rims up on blocks. I think I plan on going with 12-15 on trails until I get to something that I can't get up. I just hate to have them look that flat (the 85's have a lot of sidewall to bulge...), but I think you could run with them at 8.
