I bought mine from Summit Racing, you may want to try 4wheel parts also. I went with the 15X7 with 4" of backspacing. Are you wanting the 15's or 16's? 15's will give you a lot of tire options and is probably a better rim size for off-roading. I've heard that 15's are perfect for a 31-32 inch tire.

hmm in not quite sure on the size. i just figured it would be easier to go with a 16"

Look at the tire options and then decide. You will find a lot of LOAD C tires in the 15's and a lot of LOAD E tires in the 16's. LOAD E are heavy tires and might not be the best for sidewall flex. Load C in my opinion is a better tire for the KJ. Either way, I felt that going with the 15’s was easier.

so if I decide to go the 15" route what size tire do you recommend since I was debating between the 235/85/16 and the 265/75/16's ???

Again, it just depends on what brand you want. For example, you could run a Toyo M/T in a 31X10.50R15 or a Wrangler MT/R in a 235/75R15, 30X9.5R15, or 31X10.5R15. All these tires are a LOAD C and fairly light for an off-road tire.

I know Im killing you with all this.. sorry i just find the 15 inch tire sizes more confusing LOL

LT32X11.50R15 seems to be the closest to the height of the 235/85 or 265/75's

You can find all kinds of tire sizes in a 15 or 16 rim. It doesn’t matter which wheel size you select. I’m just saying that a 15” rim has a lot of tire options in a LOAD C range. And there is no reason to carry the extra weight of a LOAD E tire on the Liberty when you don’t need the load capacity. Plus, you don’t need a stiffer sidewall for the trail. Within the context of off-roading, a 15” rim is more suitable to a 29” - 32” tall tire. A 16” rim is more suitable for a 33” -36” tall tire.

long_tall_Texan has the same 15X7 tires that I have. Like any tire and wheel company, they are not suppose to recommend a wheel or tire that is not close to a factory replacement. However, that doesn’t mean that it wont work. Basically, you are looking for a specific wheel/tire combo that will fit your needs. For off-roading, I would go with the 15” Cragar Soft 8’s. For on-road, I would go with the factory 16 or 17” tires.

so if I go with this tire size still get a 15X7 or should I go 15X8 ?

i have 235-85-16 tires and i love em! great in the snow, main reason i got skinnier tires because i use them all year round. and we have pretty good winters here in NE ohio. but offroad, they are awesome, never had a problem where i wished i had a wider tire. plus i like how the skinny tires look!

What brand of tire? The website should list the recommended rim width for that exact size of tire.

Yes, the 8" rim is the minimum width for that particular size. The 31X10.5R15 would have less rub than the 32X11.5R15. Remember, if tires are too wide than they become a good candidate for reaching out and snatching fenders.

I hear ya on that but the 31X10.50X15 is only .1 inch bigger than my 245/16's that's why I asked earlier in the thread about the 265/75/16's or the 235/85/16's, I wanted some extra height. so decisions decisions....

If you're planning to tow a trailer with these tall tires, then I wouldn't go any taller than a 31" tire. Within the context of the KJ, 31's are still a little tall for 4:10's. With the diesel, you have an extra gear plus some low-end torque, but I would stick with something between 30 and 31. If you aren't planning to tow with the taller tires, then I would look at the KM2's in a 15" rim. I believe they have several tall tire choices that will fit a 15X7. Keep lookin' and you'll find what you want/need.

Hmmm. I plan on towing and having been kind of following this. I am interested in making my KK have better ground clearance as I bottomed out three times on a easy trail last sunday! So I am thinking the 4" would be perfect and get me close to a normal stock wrangler rubicon height. Now for the tire as it being the only thing that gets me more clearance under the gearbox I am thinking 235/85r16 on the stock rim with BFG All Terrian this is 31.7". I plan to offroad more and hope I do, but I will tow in summer about 10 times a boat (about 2400#s) for a round trip of 500 miles. This is my daily driver too. I'm not a speed demon so a little loss of power is not my biggest concern. I was not hoping to regear, but if it really is bad I could sell the tires and go wit smaller ones and being smaller would go one size down to 245/75r16 (30.5") All Terrian. The muds are about 0.2" larger and would look better being a smaller tire, but not great for mpg nor towing I bet. So what do you all think. Thursday I will buy my tires!!
