Post subject:  Spin-out in the Rain - Replacements for Stock Wrangler STs
I did a search for a Liberty users groups and yours looked like the best!

While I realize LOSTKJ focuses on wheeling the Liberty, and I know this question has been answered a million times, I need some recommendations for replacing the stock STs on my 04 Sport 4WD. We had a scary spinout this morning and it was barely raining.

The 215/75R16 are not a real common size and I am looking to keep the stock height. My main concern is safe operation on-road in wet and snowy weather (yes, it is the vehicle that my wife and kids use most often).

Any help on size options and tire make and model would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How much money are you looking to spend? I would look into the bridgestone dueler AT revo's or the Firestone destination AT's.

Both in a 235/70 R16's - Even though you have the 215's you can easily put 235 on there with absolutely no problem.

I agree on Revo's from what I've heard but no experiance with them

you also could go with BF Goodrich All Terrains alittle aggresive but with my experiance with them def. worth it & awesome in the snow & ride well

and you can go up to a 235/75/16 with no problem

After I had a few uncalled for spin-outs with the stock tires I went with the Bridegstone Dueller Revo A/T in a 245/70 R16 size. The difference in ride quality was truly amazing. It made you wonder what was DC thinking by putting such crap tires on the Libby.

The extra stability of the increased width of the 70 series tire makes a big difference to the handling in a positive way.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I looked at some of the other threads and decided to talk to my local Bridgestone/Firestone store. I love the Revo's I have on my RAM 1500, but I didn't need the A/T treads for the Liberty.

They set me up with the Firestone Destination LE's (buy 3, get one free) 235/70R16s, which will be good for wet and/or snowy conditions. This tire size was an option in '04, and it was important to me to keep the stock ride height. The extra width feels better in the corners and looks good too.

Try keeping a CRD under control in the rain on the ST's. Punch-it and you will go in circles. I'm looking to replace mine with the Destination LE in 245/70R16, hopefully before I wreck it. Until that time I drive in Full-time 4WD in the rain or even if the roads are damp. I believe the ST's handle better on snow and ice than they do on water.

Correction, 235/70R16. A 235/75R16 will most likely not fit unless you lift.

Stock sizes for the liberty:

215/75R16
225/75R16
235/70R16

Wider is more stable, which is why they replaced the 215 width with a 225 width in the newer models. The 235 is the all-terrain tire. You can also go for a 245/70R16, which should also fit with no problem.

I had Dueler revos on mine and it was great on rain.... more expensive than the Destination ATs
Pixeldzn had the Destinations and i heard nothing but good report on those too - much less money

I love the Michellin LTX M/S. I put them on my Dakota, XJ, Rodeo, and now my KJ. Cost a little more but you will easily get 70-80K miles out of them. Good offroad, great in snow and rain, and excellent on the highway.

I'm a new Liberty owner and new to this forum also. I bought a used 04 about 18 months ago and it had the original Goodyears on it :cry: , which have now 50KM and are finished. I don't drive off road, but if you have ever driven on Quebec highways you would'nt see any difference :shock: Anyway last winter I installed 4 Toyo G-02 Open Country 215/75/16 which are great and this week I bought for the other 3 seasons 4 Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country 225/70/16. I've only had them on for a few days but they feel better then the Goodyears. Anyone else have any experience with these tires???
