Has anyone tried a set of 15x8 cragars w/ 3" Back spacing and 31" tires.

A friend has these on a Wrangler w/ 33" and he is getting rid of the rims cheap.
I have a set of 31" MT I can put on them.

I would like to set these up as off-road only, but do not want to rip my fenders apart.

Thoughts?

When flexed, I'd imagine those rims with 3.0" BS would put your tires just far out enough to snap the flares right off. Are these 31x10.5s? If so I'd highly discourage it. If not, I'd still think the rub would pop the flares off at least occasionally (very annoying). People have eliminated rub with 245/75 tires (31s) on 16" rims with 4.0" backspace. Awhile ago a guy put out a post to not use 3.5" BS rims...he got them in 15x7 and had 31s. He said everytime he went over anything he would hear all sorts of noises.

I have 265/75/16 on stock Liberty rims I added 2" spacers and now I don't have any rub at the front. BUT it did put the rear out to where it does rub when flex, havent lost my flairs yet. it sounds like they cant last long ,it"s like the hole tire is being eaten up. Wheels were 5.5 bs and subtract 2" its at that 3.5 It not worth the trouble.

You can get by with a 16 X 7 with 4.5" B.S. safely, or a 16 X 8 with 5" B.S.

I have very little faith in anyone taking up that mission. If some company decides to do that, it'll be in at least a year or two
