Was wondering if a 235-85-16 would fit on a 8 inch wide wheel?I am conserned about it not being a wide enough tire for the wheels.

It will fit the 8" wheel but at 31.7" tall and almost 10" wide it will not fit a KJ

If you take out the finder wells ,beat back the pinch weld, take out the fog lites, you will still have a rub at full turn , slite but it is still there. it probably is not worth it. Not for me anyway, at full flex the rear rubs on the back finder flares ...But on the road it does not rub. Ben there , don that and am still using 265/75/16 235 /85 /16 came off my sons ford F250 and I had the same problems. I think anything above 245/75 will be a pane and there is not much difference from 20 feet away.
