OK, it's time to get new tires on my Liberty this winter / next spring. I've been shopping around on tirerack.com an awful lot but I wanted to hear some opinions. My Jeep has the Good Year RS-A tires. And it's time to throw them in the dump. I'd break down my driving to (honestly) 95% on road 5% off road So I don't need a aggresive off road tire, but I don't need a pure street tire either so I've thoughally (sp?) confused myself now and seek guidance from anyone that'll offer it. So please post up your experience or your favorite tire to help me with a very important purchase. HELP! |

^ or the Bridgestone Dueller AT Revos. These or the BFG AT KO are the top tires for the Libby. Anything else is #2. IMHO |

Generals Grabber A/T is a similar verson of the BFG, and quite a bit cheaper in price. BFG is the better tire though if you got the bucks for them. Neither tire will do much good in mud, as they cake up easily. Good rated snow tire though. |

The money portion isn't the issue.. I can save a few extra bucks every month to cover costs of more expensive tires - but right now I'm thinking around 700 for all 5 tires to be replaced. |

I have had good luck with the Firestone Destination ATs have the 245 70s and ran them with no problems unlifted. Have over 15000 miles on them, quiet and smooth on the road , would buy another set. |

For around $400 to $500 you can get a set of Firestone destination LE tires, which is what I just bought and so far I like them. |

just go to tirerack.com and find some in the price range you want, that get good reviews. i dont live in town so i took the "i live in town tires" off at like 400 miles, the RSA street tires, which btw got me thru a 100 foot long 2 foot deep mud/snow hole on at midnight. anyways, i had dunlop radial rover R/Ts they look great, but are pretty heavy and tough. some bolts and a drill bit thru the sidewall, and financial situation forced putting the original tires back on at about 45000, the R/Ts still had at least another year of tread. my next set is gunna be winterforce m+s, 245/70/16 only $67, work great, good reviews, look great. we usually get about 10 feet of snow each winter total. check out the fuzion xti they have a cool flame pattern on one side and they are only 80 for that size also. id personally never recommend anyone buy BFG AT/KOs, they really suck in just about every environment in my experience. especially snow and road feel in general. |

Has anyone tried the Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires yet? I've never seen them, so they must be a new design...? The tire rack mileage is only around 600K but most of the reviews are great good so far and they are not too expensive. Have you run through any snow with these yet? Thus far, all I've seen was some light rain today. If it rained, the old Goodyear ST's used to spin easily on the sealed asphalt driveway in my condo complex. Couldn't spin the Firestone LE's today on the same wet driveway. Of course I will probably get a nasty-gram from the association now.

I have the bfg a/t ko and love them on all surfaces and they look good too. Destinations and revos are also good from what I have heard and seen. 4wd.com has a $75 instant rebate on the bfg and free shipping. |

If you arent worried about price, I would go with the REVO's. I have had good luck with every bridgestone tire I have ever had, they are a bit more expensive but I believe they are worth it. |

Over my history of tires- Bridgestone tires have been the best so far. But the REVO just seems like a lot of tire compared to my needs. When it first came out, I was certain that I wanted to own a set. But now, I'm concened about the noise levels on the highway and that will be a huge factor in my decision. I'll keep shopping and update this thread in the spring when I decide. Thanks everyone for your inputs. |

If I had a quarter for everytime someone recomends bfg all-terrains because they look really cool I'd be rich!! Who cares what they look like. Do they work? That's what's important. I wouldn't recomend the bfg atko either. Not worth their cost. Also seems a little too aggressive for 95% road use. The revos have good ratings and I had a set of cooper atr that I thought were good and quiet on the road. |

I agree onthehunt, ask about tires and 95% of the responses here are BFG's AT KO. Not saying they arent good, but there are better options (especially for more road use) out there for the price. Plus, take them off roading one time and no tire looks good so who cares. I also use Coopers, great performance and cheap pricing. ATR's are quiet and decent off road and they only reason why I say "decent" is because I dont do anything hard core so I dont know. |
