Hello All!

Now that these have been out for a little while, I was wondering if anyone was using them and what they thought.

Mainly concerned with rain, snow and dry traction (daily driving), if you lost MPG's and all that good stuff. Stock KJ, looking to run 235/70/16's or 245/70/16's

How about any experience with the Fortera Silent Armor?

Both kind of pricy in comparison, but a friend of mine just got a job at GY and can get me a decent discount.

I have had my Goodyear silent armors for about 3 months, they seem to be great in the conditions u talked about (ice,snow...etc).The trction is much better than the stock SR/A's.And they seem to be a bit stiffer and reduce the roll through the corners! I live in Northern Alberta,Canada...the roads here are Ice and snow covered for months at a time.Trust me i did my research before i purchased them. Iam sure they would be good for u as well.Decent price also $800.00 Canadian!

Have you looked at the tripple tread tires from GY? It almost seems like the perfect tire for most people

I have a buddy who works at Discount Tire and he says they have had lots of people complain after they buy them for offroad (don't want to pay for MT/Rs) and then find them sub-par off the pavement. Just his opinion. My bro has them on his Wrangler and they are better on road then my Destination M/Ts but offroad they don't grip or self-clean nearly as effectively and they don't hold up so well when they're aired down. I've heard they are basically an expensive A/T tire at best...

I have them on my work truck in a lode rang E (I pull a 6500 Lbs trailer), they are fairly smooth and relative quiet. I switched from a Michelin M/S tire since I got stuck in the mud a few times. The Michelins seem to be quieter, but this only seems to be perception, since I can turn the down volume on the radio with the Good Years. With the Good Years the impact over bumps is a lot harder do to the stiffer sidewall, I also lost about 1.5 mpg. During a recent heavy rainstorm I had absolutely no problems with even in some deep standing water. They squeal a little during fast cornering, but remain stable and have a lot of grip.
Overall I like them and would purchase them again.

I have the Tripletred and HL versions of the GY Forteras and love them particularly in wet. Got em based upon Cons Reports 2005 review of All Season passenger tires... rated No 1 for the tripletred passenger tires so I got the SUV Fortera version.

I had the GY Fortera's HL's and also the Tripletreads based upon Consumer Rep's SUV/truck in 2004 and last years Top rating for passenger tire who compare them side for wet, dry, handling braking emergency etc etc objectively and found them good too. I had the stock GY ST, GSA and also the Mich Artic Ice snows. The Trips gripped as good as my snows. I highway mostly and city with little or no off roading.

I buy the best tire on the market with $$ not an issue based upon CS report since I spun out on stockers long ago too. It rains here alot!!!

My advice is that the ratings on the tire shop sites are fine but are subjective to the individual based upon their past tire usage and don't measure them objectively... it's like I like KJ's while others like Explorers... all opinions and everybody has one...

Sorry for not following up, have been having PC problems.

Anyway, I'm still thinking about these but now I'm also comparing Cooper MS as well. I really like the Coopers I have now so I wouldnt be opposed to sticking with them, I just thought the Wrangle Silent Armor was close to the BFG tread pattern.

I know a guy that has similar driving habits as I do that has them and loves them.
