Anyone know or tried using a 255/65/16 size tire on a stock liberty 16X7 wheel? :?: I was thinking of putting on a wider tire while trying to keep the same wall size if that makes sense to anyone.

If you are running stock sunspension height you might have problems with the inside of the tire rubbing on the body as the suspension flexes. I'm running 245/70/16 with a 2 inch lift and even the inside of my rear tires come VERY close to the body as the suspension tucks up into the wheel well. Also on the front you might rub on the sway bar mounts.

The other thing to consider (apart from the section width) is the shape of the tire profile. Some tires have a very square shoulder (such as Cooper ATR) while others are much more rounded.

I've been told by others on this board that a 245/70/16 at stock height works fine with no problems. I mostly do city/highway driving, no trails.

Thats what I have and with the mild off roading that I do, no rubbing yet.

I follow a bull dozer at brush fires and go down some trails for rescue calls. Most of the trails are wide enough for a 4-wheeler but I still take the Libby down them.
