| Post subject: | How to touch up white lettering on tires? |
I just bought a set of 5 General Grabber AT2s and they look and drive awesome, except for one little issue. It looks like the white has just "come off" of one of the letters, how would I go about touching this up? I thought about using paint but I figured it wouldn't last very long... Thanks, Bill |

Turn them all the other way around to only show the black lettering,white lettering looks terrible in my opinion anyway. |

Thats a serious problem. You should look into creating a mold from another intact tire and then use a rubber epoxy compuond to recreate the original letters. Make sure you spell check before you allow it to set. The last thing you want to be seen driving is a KJ on are some "GoodQueers". |

I have MTR's with white letters out I love the way they look! After wheelin' and after I wash the rig I spray them with Westleys Bleche-White and they look good as new! Sure they have battle scars but that just shows I use the Jeep for what it was intended! Joe

Ok......Let me let you guys in on a little secret.Someone has probably painted these letters to begin with,cause a tire with white letters actually has a band of white rubber embeded into the sidewall,then they gind away whats not needed to form these raised white letters.If you have true white walls,you could sand these letters down and make them look new again,but seeing how there not true white walls,you can purchase a lettering paint stick and cobble them back up again. On the other hand,I'm with TJKJ2002,I'm not crazy about white letters either,they went out of style in the 80"s. 
Ron P.S. If you do a search on grinding whitewalls it may return a machine that grinds them right on the vehicle,as some of the older tires used to come with the white rubber already in them,and you could grind them to reveal a white stripe.

yup.. you could send them.. by hand or an air/ electric powered sander.. also SOS pad's work great on white walls or white letters.. paint thinner works aswell. |

another way toi clean down to the white rubber is to get stuck in some good wet sand it will sand down your letters in a jiffy alos will really clean your rims....lol it was the whitest my letters ever looked though...... |

I'm not sure what they use and I would love to know what it is and the name but the detail place near me has some spray on stuff that cleans your tires for you. It's amazing, they look brand new including the white lettering (I guess I'm a product of the 80's too). I always forget to ask what it is and they keep it in a bug sprayer or something so I never can tell |

i use this http://www.eagleone.com/pages/products/product.asp?itemid=1003&cat=5005 spray, soak for a minute, scrub with tyre brush, hose off & repeat if required best stuff i've found that safe to use |

Does anyone have a good formula or product recommendation to remove white lettering? I also think white letters look bad on the inside too.
