Does anyone have these? I'm still undecided on tires . . . I don't off-road much, but I do live in Ohio and am faced with lots of driving in snow, ice, and rain. I also highway drive frequently.

How did they compare to the stock tires (which believe me, I detest) in terms of road noise, mpg changes, handling, etc.?

If you don't have them . . . what have you heard about them?

I think I'm pretty committed to buying these at this point: for some reason my father will chip in for these but not the similarly-priced Revos because he feels that they're "for off-roading most of the time."

Edited to add: I read through other posts and people mentioned having to go with 245s, but Goodyear's website lists 235s . . . did they start making them, or am I missing something?

You didn't mention which size wheel you plan to put them on, whether or not you have a lift or what aspect ratio you need. They offer a 245/65/17 which a number of folks on here run and a 235/70/16 for the smaller rim. There are other 235's offered but with higher aspect ratios. The folks that are running them seem quite satisfied. I'll be adding a set after I get a few more miles out of the originals.

No lift . . . the stock tires are 235/70/16s so I guess I was just going to replace them with the same - my vehicle's all stock for now. I'm not very well-versed in tire lingo, though I've been trying to read up.

I run 245/65/17" and there was some rubbing. I had to take down the pinch weld and do some trimming. The tires work real well for me on or off road. They are quiet also.

Sweet. But it's perfectly acceptable to get the 235/70/16s, or will that hamper performance somehow? I'm not capable of . . . well, I have no idea what a pinch weld is!



That makes me feel more confident . . . Does she have any rubbing issues?

You can run the 245-70X16 with little to no rubbing without doing anything to the pinch weld at all.

Iam running the wrangler silent armors 235/75/16 which is acyually a bit taller then the 245/70/16's and there is no issues at all now and there wasn't a issue when i was stock either!!Didn't really notice and more road noise or mpg's lost. Here are the two sizes compared!
** these tires are excellent for a AT tire, i would advise you to get them especiallly if you get nasty winters ! Also good for some decent offroad adventures.

Thanks for the detailed info! Things are making a bit more sense to me now. Does having a taller tire make a difference for anything other than off-roading purposes (I'm assuming the added height serves the same purpose as getting a lift, to a lesser degree - keeping your KJ's undercarriage above hazards?)?

I do want great tires for sucky weather . . . and if I decide to take a trip off-road (usually that happens when I have friends who scoff at my KJ's ability to handle it! )

My bro had these tires on his Wrangler. He loved them. Onroad, they did GREAT, even in deep snow and icy conditions (thank siping). I'd definitely recommend them as a true A/T tire, because when we went offroad his SilentArmors only under-performed in the mud, where they didn't clean as fast as we wanted. A little high-revving fixed that, though, like any A/T. He never saw the rocks, though, so I can't comment on that. Overall, I'd get the SilentArmors if I spent more time on the road. A word of caution, though...watch your sidewalls when offroad. My buddy who works at Discount Tire says they have a lot of Jeepers coming in with blown sidewalls on their SilentArmors because they treat these tires like they're MT/Rs when offroad.

I have the Wrangler Silent Armor tires on my '02 TJ, sized 31x10.5x15 and have about 30,000 miles on them so far with almost no wear showing.
As an off-road tire they are little help (the comment about the mud is accurate... I was sliding down hill backwards even while giving it full throttle at Wellesville ), but on road and for snow, ice and wet roads they are really great. Since the TJ will no longer be my daily driver I will be able to go for some nice off-road tires, and expect to put a set of Wrangler Silent Armor tires on my brand-new KJ Sport when it's tire-time.
So yes, I would recommend them strongly as a commuter tire and general highway tire, but not for a vehicle that sees quite a bit of off-road mud (anything past 3 or 4 inches deep).
