Post subject:  Getting a Lift, Now I Need Tires
I apologize if this question has been asked already, I imagine somebody has.

I'm getting a 2.5" lift on my Libby and have questions about my tire & rim choices. I believe the max tire size for this amount of lift is 31" but what width? Do I need offset rims or can I use the stock rims? I'd like to get BFG MT's.

all depends on what tire you choose & how agressive the tread is

245/75/16 ( 31 I believe) will rub but can be delt with with a little modification

245/70 will fit with NO rubbing

yes you can use the stock rims, I've seen it plenty..just BECAREFUL if you lower your air pressure for wheelin with the stock rims don't go to to low you could loose the bead seat

Biggest you can get in there is 265/75/16


BUT

You have to bash the pinch weld. There are some good threads in here on how to....

It varies from jeep to jeep
I have the OME stuff on my KJ with 245/75 MTR's on OE wheels
I had to pound the pinch and move the fog lamp door but that was it
I have NO rub as far as DD goes but off road they rub in the rear ,the tires are to wide and rub the inner fender liner slightly
but even at very full stuff they dont rip or cut any thing and that is on OE bump stop spacing

All i needed to do was mod my inner fender a tad bit into order for my tires(265/75/r16) not to rub to badly(only if i turn ALL the way in either direction) no pinch weld pounding needed these tires are on stock rims to

i really need to get a pic of what i did to my inner fenders its really very clever
