I decided to measure my 17X7.5" spare that is unmounted right now but I'm a little confused. If you measure the width from the outer edges, it is 8.5" wide. If you measure from the inside edges it is 7.5" wide. If you measure the backspacing all the way to the edge it is 5.5", but if you measure to where the inner lip would be, it is 5". Which way are you supposed to measure?

Thanks

Ok, so it looks like you measure the width from the inside lips of the rim, and measure the backspacing all the way to the edge, which makes the 17X7.5" have 5.5" of backspacing.

Now, the question is, which tires to go on them once the Frankenlift II Premium gets installed with 1 or 2 extra isolators in the rear. I'd really like to get something a little fatter and taller than my 245/65R17's I have now. Anyone with experience with a 255/70R17 or 265/65R17?

to measure width you do go inside the lips where the bead of the tire would sit. back spacing would be from the back where it would touch the hub to the lip again or where the lip turns up
