| Post subject: | Cooper STT 235/85/16 Rubbing.... |
Hi Guys, Anyone else running this size Coopers? I've just put these tires on and have some serious issues with how big they are. I checked on the forums and saw others running tires of this size but have found even with my 3inch lift its rubbing on the body of my truck when flexing with the front wheels turned. I've pounded the pinch weld but it still catches on the area where the weld has been bashed down when turned on a certain angle. I've got a 05 CRD Renegade and I'm running on the Renegade rims. Has anyone come across this before? Am I doing any harm with that slight rub on the pinch weld? if I have the wheels and full lock and flex it hits the very back of the wheel well which also worries me. I've completed some cutting on the front bumper and the rear "just" stuff's with slight rubbing which I can deal with but the rubbing on the pinch weld area and the back on the wheel arch (front wheels of course) worries me... Help!? Regards, Brett |

At full lock, if it does just back off of the steering wheel to where it doesn't you wont see enough difference in the turning radius to matter. mine will do this sometimes when I'm at different angles but its been this way for years. I have the Cooper ATR |

Copper STT - 31.8" diameter Maxxis Bighorn - 31.7" diameter Not sure if 2.54mm makes a difference but it might. On the rear, do you have extended bumpstops? That will help you from overstuffing the rear at the cost of slight reduction in articulation. |

I'd say it would help just a little bit. I haven't extended the bump stops yet but will definatley look into! I'll just have to drive the truck differently offroad. Can't wait to play and find out its limitations. |
