Can I do this with only hammering pinch weld or will I have to drop to 65 or 70? Will I have to cut any plastic out of the front? Rims will be Crager 8's or AR Renegades. Basically I would like the biggest widest tire I can without a lift because the lift is on hold for the time being I am mostly on-road but we do hit the trails when camping in the summer. I apologize if this has come up before and I cannot find the thread. I found some that were similar but didn't quite answer my questions. |

I think you can get away with only 245/70/16s without rubbing. ORRR 235/75/16s but going both wider AND taller is going to give you a fair amount of rub without lifting. I run 245/70 on my unlifted '03 sport with zero rubbing but is close enough to know if I went taller along with the wider, it would rub heavily on full lock, not to mention when stuffing the tires offroad. just reread your post, I guess you probably can get away with it going with 15" cragars...not sure about 16". Your stock rims are 16" (assuming they aren't 17") so I guess it wouldn't change. |

My stock rims are actually 17's but I will be getting new rims cause I do not like the rims I got. My current tires are 235/65/17. I didn't think 15" rims worked on the libby (don't know why I thought that My GF is against the black rims so I was also thinking of picking up a pair of the 05 renegade rims and painting them a deep silver/grey. Who know it won't be for a few months anyway so I will continue to evalute different options. Thanks for the reply. |

i see people going with the steel black 15" cragars. then they go with a larger tire. however on the stock 16" size, I think my above statement will still apply for non lifted vehicles. I went only wider and kept the sidewall height the same. no rubbing but is oh so close at full lock. combining more height and width will most likely assure rubbing. As far as 15" not working, I believe that's true for aluminum rims but the cragar steelies do work. they just clear the calipers but work. Then you have those fatter tire options, but a lift still helps when going real big with the smaller rims. someone correct me if wrong. |

I ordered Grabber AT2's in 245 75 16 and I'm putting them on my unlifted 06 today. I already pounded down my pinch welds, and I'll see what kind of clearancing I have to do otherwise. I'll let you know how this works out, hopefully have some pictures too. By the way I got four AT2's in that size for $404 dollars due to employee discounts (i work at a dealership)... |

Put the tires on. Mild rubbing, as most people would tell you. I have yet to see how well these will stuff in the wheel wells, but during normal driving they'll rub only when at full steering lock. On and off road (just did some mudding and hill climbing stuff) , its night and day vs the stock tires. such a good improvement that it makes me want to cry, really. Steering feels sharper, the ride seems better to me. And it looks just badass. These tires really mean business. I'm glad I went with the 245/75-16 size instead of something a little smaller, cause now I have good incentive to save up for a lift. If I just drive a little differently, not going 100% all the way to lock, I dont get any rubbing on the street at all. Even doing that, the turning radius is still better than some other vehicles. I just woke up so gimme a minute but I'll go take some pictures pretty quick here. |

Here are the 245 75's on my 06 with no lift. I got some pretty bad rubbing the other day when I stuffed the rear wheel. I'm going to get a lift on the Jeep ASAP with these tires.

widest tire you can fit is a 255/65 in an unlifted jeep. Thats what i run and i get no rubbing in the rear when its full stuffed. And very light rubbing in the front at full lock |

Actually it looks like Jaws is rubbing a lot on both the pinch weld and front of the fender well. I just had mine Frankenlifted with 245/75R16's on 16X8 5" BS rims. I have about an inch at full lock from the pinch weld, but rubbed on the fender well liners in the front right under the fog lamp doors. I first tried to heat up the front of the fender well liners and push them, but got a little carried away with the butane tech torch and melted one under the fog lamp door. I ended up just heating the areas under the fog lamp doors to soften them up, and then cut out the areas. No rubbing at all now. You'd have to do the pinch weld too. You have to cut away the plastic over it, and flatten the weld with a bfh. Don't cut it off! You probably are still going to rub some without a lift. Not sure though since I'm running different width rims with different backspacing. |
