Can I mount my new Generals with the lettering on the inside? They arent a directional tread so I dont see how that would make a difference, but maybe it would?
Image

Basically I just think it will look a lot cleaner this way. Plus for some reason the white lettering is kinda painted blue...why would that be? I havent even looked at them in person yet to see if they have lettering on both sides or only one. And I'm mounting them later this afternoon so I appreciate your prompt help! Thanks.

Sure flip them around if you like

Here is what it should have on the other side.

DECISIONS DECISIONS

And the blue washes off the white lettering.

Im doing mine on the inside, never been a fan of white lettering. Impossible to keep clean (unnecessary on most jeeps though) but it just looks "sporty", something a jeep is not. a 69 Camaro fastback, sure, but not a jeep. Let the tread speak young one, not the advertising on the side

I would go with White Lettering out, drive around until they get dirty and real bad, then swap them at next tire rotation. :) I put mine whites out.

yes the blue is put on at the factory to protect the whiteness for the end customer. It comes off with soap and water.

That doesn't make any sense......the tires will have to be removed from the wheels and remounted and rebalanced. You can't just swap them out during a tire rotation, flipping them around to the other side of the car will still have letters out.....

Good deal, thanks for the info everyone. I'm still unsure about which way to mount them...I'm thinking lettering on the inside. I'll post some pictures later today or tomorrow with what I decided to do.

So you want him to pay to have the tires dismounted and remounted/rebalanced just for ???? seems kind of ...well silly :? :?

I put them on black side out. I'm glad I did. Looks really clean and angry. Work great in mud too, but I do get rubbing at full lock. I can deal with it 'till I get a lift. It's such a huge dfference I can't believe it.

I agree with Pote on this one, white out with silver stock rims (thats the set up I have now) and black side out with black rims (like I will be doing in spring).

How much is he gonna pay? $5 per tire!? Plus you get free balancing and rotation for life, so you can just pay them to unmount and mount. Even if you don't you do rotate your tires, don't you!? just have them swapped.

I don't see what's the big deal. The point I am making is it is not permanent and if you really hated it so much you can swap them inside out. Big deal!

most places if you dismount will charge you for balancing them again since you have taken them off the rim, just find out first.Yes I rotate mine every 4000 or so in my own garage!

In Toledo they charge anywhere from 8 to 10 bucks to dismount and remount tires

I agree its not a big deal in one way but still

Yeah, that's not much to pay to drive around with the whites out and see how they look. You can go back to black walls if you get sick of them or if you just happen to forget about cleaning them.
