Hello all. I just ordered 5 General Grabber AT2 in 245/70/16...What kind of tread life do these things have? Most of my driving(I'd say about 95%) is above 50mphs on the highway and interstates. What kind of tread life do these things have?

I only read one horrible review regarding tread on tirerack.

This one>>>
Quote:
I have had these tires for just over a year, aprox. 25000miles, (that is a generous estimate)and they are bald. I have had them rotated 4 times since purchase, air pressure was a constant 35psi. I bought the tires for the treadwear warranty, cant be honored because treadwear was under the 2/32 range. The only plus with these tires was that the tirerack gave me a discount with my purchase, I will do business again.

The only other complaint I've read is relating to keeping them balanced. A few that read like this>>>>
Quote:
1497 miles on these tires and three trips to the dealer for balancing. Last trip was for a road force balance and the tires are so far out that they cannot be balanced. Very disatified.

Quote:
I CANT GET THE TIRES TO STAY BALANCED. THEYVE BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES NOW TO BE BALANCED.

All the above are off tirerack's survey.

With that said, multiple people hear rave about them and I almost bought them because of those praises. I would not worry about tread life if I were you, they come with a 60K mile warranty. that's alot of miles...just be sure to check them when they get low, they won't honor the warranty if you get below 2/32 tread depth.

General/Continental tires have a tendency to get a temporary flat spot if the car they're on is parked for more htan a couple hours. a lot of people don't drive far enough on their way to work to get said flat spot to go away during their drive. They can balance out fine, but if the flat spot is still there, it's GOING to vibrate.
