Got a good deal on BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A

I don't visit this message board too often, so I don't know if these tires are considered good or bad among the KJ crowd. I just wanted to share the deal that I got on them as refference for anyone that is in the market.

4 new BF Goodrich Long Trail T/As for $424 installed (out the door) at Belle Tire. I did some price comparisons online and over the phone and it looks like this is a great deal. They came out to $100 installed per tire + tax.

If anyone wants to match this price I can email you my scanned receipt. I don't know if that will do any good at Belle Tire though....

I guess it's too late now anyway, but what is the general concensus on here about these tires? FYI, this is my wife's grocery getter and never goes off-road.

They're just about perfect for what your KJ does.

when driving around town, that the tire I see most on people's KJs. Seems to be a popular choice.

Gotta love new tires. Car rides better than new (originally had Good Years on it). Extremely smooth on the highway. Tested up to 95mph.

Would be helpful to know what size tire you are referring to.

I'm guessing either 225/75-16 or 235/70-16. Either way, it was a decent deal and a good long-wearing tire that's good in snow and inclement weather

agreed its a good wearing tire that does well in the snow.

I got mine, 245/75/16 for $87 each from discount, discount will price match.

I have the BF longtrails on my 06' F-350 work truck and well they don't seem that good. I drive them in a mine and also sand and snow alot and have to rely on 4wd way to much. It could also be the ford with no weight in the back, they may work great on the KJ. Also the wear on the truck has not been noticable and i have been running it for 8 months (30k KMS).
Probably be an excellnt tire for your daily commutes and occasional offraod!

renegade...it's not an all terrain or mud terrain. that's why you have to use 4wd in dirt and sand;) sounds like you need an MT.

Fords (and loaded down trucks in general) also chew up front tires...i take it you're rotating regularly?

Yeah we do rotate them very regular due to getting flats!haha. Thats the tire that come with our work trucks from factory but after a year or so usually switch them out to BF all terrains or somthing similar.

I have the long trails on my 02 Renegade and they are absolutely useless in the snow. It won't move without 4wd. I'm thinking of switching to Grabber AT2s even though I only have about 5000 miles on these.

I had Long Trails on my Pathfinder, and about halfway through the tread life they went to hell, spun in rain and snow even when driving like a granny. It seemed to me that some of the tread grooves only go about halfway down into the tread so when you've used them for a bout 20,000 miles they loose half of those grooves and half of their traction. At least you got a good deal on them, but I would go with the ATs they are so much better.

This is a huge point...many people love the tires (and many like this) their first year of use because the siping on goes 50% through the tread. You gotta find tires that have siping going 100% through the treads...that way seasons 2, 3, 4 are just as grippy in the slick stuff. Many people forget about the 50% siping depth on MOST tires. One of the reasons I went with Vatiiva ATs...100% siping depth.

Is that what the small grooves are called siping? I never knew that, I'm glad you understood what I was trying to say.
