What lifts are compatible with General Grabbers AT2's 245/75-16E on MOABS? Is it possible to have an OME lift instead of Rusty's 2.5"?

sure you can have an OME lift with that set up, better than Rustys I have the OME Heavy Dutys and running 255-70s on Moabs and all kinds of room, 255-70s are like 3/10 of an inch shorter than 245-75s but like I said have plenty of room!

Actually csukoh78 it was that very post of yours that makes me really want that setup!! Nice rig :) But I prob won't be doing any rock crawlin, this will be a summertime beach buggy, so if that makes any difference do you think I can get away with a spacer lift instead of a suspension lift, maybe like a Daystar 2" or even a Rocky's 2-1/8" Combo lift with 245/75/16 on MOABS ??

if you think you must go with a spacer at least use a good one like Daystar stay away from Rustys or RROs. If you are going to lift it dont go with cheap products you will pay more in the end replacing what you put on

I had heard that the combo lift is actually pretty good, i dont know for sure tho I'd go daystar tho

DO NOT USE SPACERS The damage they will cause, the lack of dependability, and the sheer goofiness of it detracts from any perceived benefit. Spend the $500 for the Rusty's and call it a day, you will be glad you did.

The lift/tire combination I have is perfect for the 90% onroad, 10% offroad. It looks great and is functional, will get you just about anywhere you need to go without being undrivable on the road (read: mpg, noise, weight, etc)

I couldn't be happier, and I get compliments all the time....especially considering I paid $89 per tire at Sears. This lib is as comfy as a GC and as capable as a wrangler. :D :D :D

or spend 500 on an OME lift and have one that will last a long time, better company to deal with, more experience is designing lifts etc

Yeah I was doing some research and heard spacers can really f-up your ball joints.. thanks! I think I'm gunna get what u have, actually! Do ya need moabs to run that setup though?

Huh? Moabs are just wheels......

Any lift can affect the upper ball joints. The only fix for that is Jeeping Al's upper A arms.

The Daystar style spacer that fits under the spring does not cause problems beyond just being a lift.

The bad spacers are the ones that bolt on top of the Struts - i.e. OTT - and they kill the strut not the balljoint.

even at that there are some people who have run OTT's successfully - the key is extending the front bumpstop to limit travel

Rusty's is good, OME is better, neither are required for mild offroading (although the OME will improve on road performance)

With increased tire size you need to change the front wheel offset to prevent rubbing on the sway bar - the MOAB's do that automatically because of the backspacing - for stock wheels - some folks add wheel spacers, some just drive carefully.

what is so great about jeepin als A arms?

Author:  ATXKJ [ Wed Nov 28, 2007 9:31 pm ]
Post subject:

Al's A arms are longer - it changes the geometry so that you don't hit the upper ball joint and allows you to correctly align the front end.

Post subject:

If I install them, will I have to get another alignment?

Author:  ATXKJ [ Wed Nov 28, 2007 9:43 pm ]
Post subject:

Yes anytime you mess with front end components you should get the frontend aligned - although it means they can actually get them in spec - without them one of the setting is off or right at the edge.
they also have MOOG grease-able balljoints.

woa..now I'm pretty confused cuz im a newbie, hahah. Ok, so let's say instead of Rusty's 2.5 I get the OME lift, which is like what..right under 2"?
Would I.. A.) still be able to use General AT2 Grabbers 245/75/16?
B.) Can I keep the tires on the Reny's STOCK graphite-painted wheels and not HAVE TO put them on moabs instead?

And p.s. why does csukoh78 have 245/75/16E's? ..Are the weight of the Libertys more than usual for these set tires?

(Learning so much already!) :D

OME lift will allow for 245/75R16 Goodyear MTR's on OE wheels
this is what is on my wife's DD ,no wheel spacers or stuff like that just OE wheels
now you will need to move the fog lamp door on the older version front end ,'02-'04 I think
also you will need to pound the pinch and add some sort of rear bump stop spacer ,they will rub at very full stuff out back
we also get a very slight rub on some of the fender liner at full lock on the steering wheel but it is slowly wearing down

The reason that you see people with the Load range E tires is because 99% of the time that is all that is offered in that size/brand/model tire
just run them at around 32 psi +/- a few psi depending on weight of your rig and brand of tire you get and you will be fine

Exactly right....in that size, General only offers E.

They ride just fine, I love em. I love the 640 tread rating and 60k mile warranty.

This tells you exactly what they sell and what sizes, load ranges, etc....

I think what confuses a lot of people is the fact that Rustys says theirs is 2.5 inches of lift and OME is what people think 2.0 or so when in fact I know that mine sets just as high as one with Rustys springs.
