Grabber AT2 VS. BFG TA K/O

265-75-16 grabbers= 624
VS.
265-75-16 BFG TA K/O= 709

which is the better value. I know BFG have been around forever and have proven that tire more than once.

I want a load range D or less and the BFG offers it, but the grabber does not. Im trying to save weight/fuel economy.

do you think the difference in weight is even worth splitting hairs over?

I looked at both and went for the AT2's. Im amazed by that tire. Handling is awesome, and it seems to be very durable, awesome in rain too. The only thing you might not like is rolling noise at speeds slower than 30mph. You cant hear em above speeds of 30, but below that they are humming.

noise isnt so bad, i mean im used to MT/R's which are rediulous so I'm sure any AT would be a change for the better

only real diff i have read is tread life, i read many reviews of the bfgs getting over 80,000 miles on them. But the grabbers biggest complaint is the tread life sucks

You get what you pay for. I'd go for the Revos myself, but ya know.

the BFG's are a better all around tire. Remember that most of the favorable reviews of the Grabber AT2's are when they're replacing junk stock tires, regardless of what vehicle they're on. General/Continental tires in "general" are not very highly thought of by most people that have had GOOD tires, and I think after the MT/R's, you'd be fairly disappointed in the Grabbers and BFG AT's and the Revos when it comes to off roading...but the Bstone Dueler AT Revo is what I'd put on mine if I wanted an all terrain. the BFG's are good too.

Personally, I don't mind the noise my MT/R's make...I either have my stereo cranked, or my girlfriend in my passenger seat complaining about how loud they are, so the noise is always drowned out :lol:

I would get the BFG's. & I'm going to.....soon. I am still running the stock junk off. We put Revo's on my sons 02 GCherokee, they are really good tires. but the BFG's are just a better tire & that' s what I want on my KJ. I used to work for a local BFG tire store in Fl in high school (1976). They were solid then & still are.! my 2cent

Going from MTR's to BFG AT's will be a HUGE let down off road
I know that the last time I was out wheelin we had a guy running BFG AT's on an FJ and he took a strap in some wet dirt
not even mud just wet dirt
I drove through in the TJ ,super swamper LTB's, and never spun a tire
he could not move
now granted if it's your DD and you dont see much trail time and when you do you dont mind taking a strap then sure they ride great but I would not get them ESPECIALLY in the southern end of the US where 90% of the trails have MUD when it rains
go for the BFG MT
or Irok ND

Oh yeah and when you gonna come ride with us?
3 hours away and you have NEVER come on any of the rides I posted?

I am in mud alot, actually in a good bit yesterday scoping out some places for me and Endurnace to go riding, but other than that im in the sand alot, on the road, and in some mud. and yes this is my daily driver.

Mainly I'm tired of the 245/75/16's. I want 265/75/16's.

I'm still open for suggestions in that size tire, and not rediculously expensive.

Oh and Jason the reason why i havent made a ride, is mainly due to lack of time, school 5 days a week, and work the rest.

What Is the Average Tread life on the Grabbers before needing replacment? Because I already have 3000 miles on mine and they haven not woren even a little yet

If you are in mud a lot, the General tires are not the tire for you. I have had them on the KJ for over 30K now and have been in rock, dirt, mud, and snow. Mud fills these tires and they turn to slicks. See the pick below. I have loved them on everything else, but not on mud.

The only thing you are going to gain by going to a 265/75/16 over the 245/75/16 is aprox. 1/2" in ground clearance.

By adding aprox. 1.3" in dia. your gas mileage will drop even more than it is now (11-12 mpg. avg.), your power band will drop some more, your brakes will wear quicker, and you will inherit new rubbing an stuffing problems to deal with..... If these things are not a problem to you, go for it.

well Im going to be changing to 4.10's or 3.93's I havent heard that a 265 will kill mileage worse than a 245, especially since the tires i want are lighter than the MT/R's by about 8 lbs a tire.

265's will kill your mileage, kill your power and kill your brakes.

when i changed from 245 goodyear mt/r's to 265 firestone dest a/t's i immediately noticed a negative difference in take off power, and brake fade.
also noticed a large decrease in mpg.

i switched them out to 15" bfg's on cragar soft 8's, and it is a world of change.

the 265's really turned my kj into a dog. i've read on here from some posters that it didnt affect they're mileage or power, but i find that very difficult to believe.

Well when your 265's wear down are you going back to 245's? what do u mean that you switched them to 15" bfg's?

I'll second that!! KOs are the $140+ tire and Grabbers are a $86 +/- tire ...something is wrong in your quote from that place....they are nowhere the same in comparison other than a similar tread pattern.

BFG AT/KO 265/75R16 $166/tire ($660/set)

Now, tirerack does charge about $20/tire for shipping, so the totals are more like $740 and $556

I run both of them, at2's on the KJ and bgf's on the TJ. For the money you can't go wrong with the at2's. I was going to get a set of grabbers for the TJ but too long of a back order on them so I went with my second set of bfg's.

Well I don't want to tick anyone off for throwing another option out there, but I recently got a set of BFG Commercial T/A Tractions in 245/75R16. They are also made in 235/85R16. They are a great and TRUE A/T tire. They make a good compromise for those looking at M/T tires but want something more A/Tish, and vice-versa. The tread looks M/T, but the siping takes away all the M/T disadvantages (ice, packed snow?! yikes!!!). Of course the self-cleaning is still there, in deep snow and the gooey stuff...I would say they cleaned themselves as easily as the Destination M/Ts I had on before them. The tread wear is 'commercial', according to all reviews on the net, and better yet they aren't what I'd call expensive (then again I've never tried Walmart or Big-O tires, no offense to those who have).
I'm don't work for BFG, but I swear no one knows these tires, let alone having seen them. Yet I noticed before I got them on my KJ that the local school district puts them on ALL their trucks. I'm not saying this to show that they're good, but they must be much more common amongst the commercial industry than the private sector.
I got mine at Discount for $550 out the door for four (never used my spare).
