Walmart A/T and M/T tires?

I was at the grocery store today and saw a truck with BFG Land Terrain tires. It looked like a typical BFG AT but was too worn to be sure. So, I came home and googled it. Looks like the Land Terrain is a Walmart exclusive. I couldn't find much on the Walmart website about it but I did run across another exclusive, the Goodyear Super Sport HT. Their site calls it an "All Terrain" tire but it sure has a Mud tread.

Anyone have any input on the Super Sport or a list of what sizes either tire is available in?

I tried to go back and snag some pics but the Wallyword site is reeeaaallllyyyy sloooooooowwwwww today.

wal mart wont sell oversized tires

if getting say 245 75 16s just roll the wheels in and tell them you have a 05 Rubicon and get them that way , they dont need to know what you are putting them on :lol:

the walmart in my area don't care if you order oversized tires or what they are going on.

Big retailers like Wal-Mart, K-Mart and so on, recieve tires from the mfg that are made just for them. That's why you see a slight difference in the tires.

Some WM's, including the one that I worked at years ago, will not install tires on a vehicle that are of a different size than what the auto manufacturer allows. It's all about liability.

I sold a set of 31x10.50-15 BFG's to a couple who wanted them installed on their Toyota 4x4. So I did.

A few weeks later, I recieved a subpeona to appear in court regarding an accident that happened where the driver claimed it was the fault of the tires.

Guess who it was..the owners of the Toyota with the new BFG's.

Their lawyer used the tact that since I installed tires that were not recommended by the manufacturer, that I and Wal-Mart were liable.

My lawyer, supplied by Wal-Mart, argued that the cause of the wreck was hydroplaning caused by excessive speed.
Add to that the fact that I provided a signed work order stating that the owner was responsible for this work since the tires were considered "oversized' and my 20+ years of automotive experience and you can guess who won that arguement.

If you only have 1 Wal-Mart in town and they don't want to mount the tires on your vehicle, simply bring in the wheels and have them mounted.

But, Wal-Mart, being Wal-Mart, it makes you wonder why they would sell a tire they won't mount and balance.....hmmmm.

I don't think it will be a problem (oversized tires) at the local store. My neighbor just had them put 33 x 12.50 x 15 MT/R's on his '06 Rubicon.

I'll get down and check them out when we get the holidays over with.

WHY THERE JUST A RETAILER NOT THE ACTUAL TIRE MAKER HAHA. WALMART IS BIG INTO BUYING AND SELLING. THERES A FARM THAT MAKES BIRD SEED THAT IS SOLD AT WALMARTS ALL OVER JUST DOWN THE ROAD A FEW MILES FORM MY HOUSE. I THINK THAT TIRE LOOKS PRETTY MEAN AND CAN YOU STUD THEM AS WELL? WALLY WORLD HAHA THEY REALLY DO HAVE EVERYTHING

Since WalMart is WalMart, they pressure every vendor to cut as many corners as possible. So if a BFG or Goodyear is $25 less at WM than something that looks almost the same at a real tire store, you probably are getting a less capable tire. If the drop in value is worth the savings, thats up to you.

I'm gonna have to disagree that WalMart's tires are less capable.
The tires are built just the same. Only the name has changed.
