mud tires on ice and snow?

i juste want to know if it is a good idéa tu put mud tire for winter.For the snow it is ok but what appen on ice?Remember i am in québec...long winter!!

Not a good idea. A Mud Tire doesn't have enough individual tread blocks to give respectable traction on ice. You could have the tires siped [where they make little cuts in each tread block] but I don't know how much that will help.

and if i find one model with nail, i dont know if it can by a good compromise?

The folks who have Nokian's are really impressed with the ice/snow performance - but they're AT's - so maybe the better question is - do you really need MT's or can AT's work?

My Trxus MT's(made by Interco) have a bunch of sipping and are a little softer then the rest and so far has preformed really good in snow/ice since Colorado Springs doesn't like to plow any roads but the main ones so most of the non-main roads are pure ice and I haven't had any problems getting around.

Also you might want to check the Maxxis BigHorn radials,they are a aggressive MT tire and come preparted to be studded,the only way to get traction next to sipping a tire.

i always run with real winter tires(toyo observe) and be verry good on the ice but i need more in deep snow. when i got more time i want try my mt in the snow.

The only out-of-the box M/T that I know of that rocks in snow AND ice is the Trxus. pull up a pic of the tread on the Interco site and you will see why.
