Just wondering from you guys that have 255/70r16's, how do they stuff. I want slighly bigger tires, but dont want to regear.

I have 255 70 X16s on Moabs, when stuffed they just rub a little on the rear outside of the fender, not enough to tear them up just clean off the dirt. now something like the BFG AT would rub more due to the tread width/pattern, mine runs pretty good with them on just an AT but do well

Mine dont rub at all (they are on renegade wheels). Of course I have a lift though.

So, tommudd has a bit a rubbing but, he's running Moabs and Bodz123 has no rubbing but running stock wheels. Don't mind me, I'm just thinking out loud. Seriously though, I've been taking measurements and checking clearances with wheels turned, etc... I'm sure that I can run 245/65/17's with no problem and it appears that I can just barely get away with a 255. I have lots of clearance at the rear, even with the pinch weld untouched. The issue is at the front with the rubber do-hickey that runs below the bumper. As one member put it, "what the tire rubs on is a lot weaker than the tire." So, no big deal.

My biggest concern was if there would be any clearance issues with the various suspension pieces, using a stock rim, due to the extra section width.

So, I thank you guys for doing the initial testing for me.

I know i'm rubbing the swaybar with a lift and 245/75-16s with the stock wheels...so take that into consideration. You may want either spacers or new wheels

mine "just touch" when fully stuffed, like I said just enough to wipe the dirt off the sidewall, so its no big deal, the next set may rub more though

The Toyo Open Country A/T 255/70-16 (on standard rims) rubs slightly at full lock but I only notice it when the tires are wet (you can hear the rubber against "something" - haven't checked what it is yet ). My Jeep has a 2" OME lift but I haven't "killed" the pinch weld yet.
