Post subject:  Ohio/Indiana Nokian Dealers

I am in S/W Ohio just oustide of Dayton. Around here, Grismer Tire has an exclusive contract to carry Nokian and their prices are about $40 higher per tire than I see elsewhere ( Ex: 235/70/16 Vatiiva = $161/tire w/o balancing,etc... Four were $740!)

Does anyone know of somehwere else to get these tires?

Thanks, Moose. I will check them out. I talked to them on the phone, & they explained that they wished they could get Nokians cheaper, but Nokian's deal with Grismer prevents them from selling them any cheaper than Grismer does. The guy did imply that Grismer is really putting to folks on the price. I may just go another brand. I am gong to PM Pote to see where his deal came from first, thoogh. . I think I got the info once, but it is gone now. ARoss6 has a good deal, too. I was hoping to find something closer, but I'll see what comes up.

Well, it depends on this other thing I got going on.... If it works out, the size & type of tire I will want will be changing... 8)

I was pricing Nokians in the stock 235/70/16, but I may be going to 245/75/16's......

let me just reiterate how incredibly awesome these AT tires are. We are in the midst of a huge icing here in NE Ohio. Two nights ago I was coming home and was on the turnpike onramp. Directly in front of me was a Expedition driving rather slow for the ramp. As we circled around the ramp turned into one huge sheet of ice. The driver in front of the Expedition lost it and spun into the guard rail with his rear end of the car still across the single ramp lane. The expedition braked hard and began to slide too, but regained control. When I saw his brake lights I applied the brakes and at that point only realized were weren't driving on pavement but on a literal ice rink. I felt the tires slide just the slightest so I pump the brakes slowly...doing so I could actually feel my treads gripping and clawing at the ice. It was amazing...I stopped only after a few yards, and we both were lucky not to plow into the poor soul who spun out into the guard rail. I have never had tires bite into ice like these do...I was smiling from ear to ear. They are by far the best year round AT I've ever had...they felt like like they had teeth. anyhow, I hope you find these tires because they are just that good...
