| Post subject: | Discount Tire - They Did the Right Thing... |
I ordered a set of Bridgestone Revo's 245/75-16 for my KJ from my local Discount Tire. At the time of purchase, I asked them to replace some bad lug nuts and to use the best of the 5 tires for the spare because I was only getting 4 this time, and they were the same size. I made an appointment for my wife to get the work done due to my inability to get out of work for it. Well, Discout used the worst tire as the spare (the only one with the big plug right in the tread) and I had 4 or 5 lugnuts that were bad. I wasn't too happy about it as you can imagine. I contacted the manager about it and he came through. He gave me the lug nuts to replace the bad ones and replaced my spare with a new Goodyear MTR for no charge. I thought that was pretty cool because I told him that I would take any used A/T tire he could dig up to use for my spare. So, people make mistakes but it is how they handle them and makes the difference in my eyes. I guess it was worth it for the hour plus wait...ohh wait, that was my wife. |

what kind of lug nuts did they give you...so far everything I've tried is not the right geometry...sure you can easily find the right threading and size, but the angle where they seat into the rim is never flush. the only ones I find that sit in the wheels flush when tightened down are the OEMs and I am darn tired of paying $7+ each for every lug that has the chrome cap break off...I now have 4 new "capless" lugs and I'll be damned if I ever give the stealer $30 bucks for 4 lug nuts....any info on brand, etc is appreciated. FYI, I've tried all the lugs from the autozones and advanced auto parts with little luck...like I said, they fit well enough, but the angle at the bottom of the acorn shape is vastly different than the factory ones. what's everyone else have? |

Don't know about the lugs. They look OK but haven't had them off. |

I just picked up some McGuards from Summit Racing...the bulge acorn ones and they look and worked out very well...doesn't still work with the stock lug wrench but they are guaranteed not to break unlke the POS dealership ones at 7 bucks a pop. these were 4 for 9 bucks. good enough for me. |

If you could be so kind as to ad the stock number and price. I'm considering some pre-active action before a problem developes. Thank-You David |
