I was recently looking for some tires, ( once again, i can't make up my mind), and i went to a town fair tire and saw kelly safari tires.

has anyone heard anything about these tires?

also what about cooper discover ATR's?

i am looking for a decent A/T tire that is not to expensive, looks good and can handle some offroad terrain.

thanks everyone

Kelly tires are JUNK. No grip in wet, no grip in snow, no grip on dry pavement...that goes for the entire Safari line

Discoverer ATR is a good tire.

If I was going to get an all terrain tyre I'd be going for the Cooper ST, great for everything and good enought to get your out of the mud when a normal AT may struggle.

I have Cooper ATR's and I love them for all around use, I dont offroad much though but they work for me (rain, snow, ice). I paid $420 out the door for 4 when they first came out.

I've looked at the ST's but dont know if it would be too much for daily driving, I might be due for new tires by next winter so I may check them out.

IMHO I love my General Grabber AT2's they were really great in the snow this year in the Sierra's. The only compliant I have is a humm between 30mph and 35mph.
I ordered them from Thetirerack.com I believe they were around $80.00 each I purchased 5 since I went 1 size larger then stock and I've had no rubbing issues. I had no shipping since I picked them up at the warehouse. :D :D

i had a set of atr's before i upgraded to maxxis buckshot mudders. they are a really good tire. smooth, quite, lots of grip in all weather. i don't think you can go wrong with a cooper discoverer tire.

Do you know how the ATR's compare to the ST's (or STT's)? I was considering those at one point too but it seems like the ATR's are better for all around use.

I dont offroad (camping trails at the most), but if a rain storm rolls in you can bet that I will be playing in the mud some where.

Kuhmo Road Venture, KL78. Mildly agressive tread with great handeling and low road noise and wont break the bank.

Have had them on 5 differetn jeeps, XJ's and KJ and love em.

90.00-110.00 per tire depending on where you are.

nothing beats a good set of BFG's AT love mine
found mine on sale at pep boys for 75 a piece
think they run twice that normally

but they are great tires I love the grip on road and off
put a set on the truck before driving cross country Ga to Ca via the grand canyon and mostly R66 vs. the interstate
and the set on the jeep now are going to make the same trip in reverse here in the near future....

dont know about mastercraft courier A/T but i had a set of mastercraft courier MT's on a lifted s10 i had the MT's suck on the road but would recommend then if you want to off road i loved them in the MUD they had out of this world grip...

My vote is for what I currently have on and have posted reviews about...Nokian Vatiiva ATs. Simply awesome in every kind of weather, exceptional in snow and ice and wet stuff. I don't offroad enough to rate them for that, but certainly they should hold their own. They look incredible on the KJ too...nice big square AT shoulder, deep chunky treads with more siping than probably every tire in its class.

I'm running Dunlop Rover A/T's 235/70-16. Nice riding tire for street application only been off road once and no complaints. I will say I had GoodYear Fortera tires before and was highly disappointed with them. Much Happier with the A/T's , before somebody else points it out Dunlop is owned by GoodYear.
But their look and 60,000 rating is very nice and since I only put about 5000 miles on my KJ last year I will probably have them for a long time.  8)
