I wanted to make sure before I settled on a purchase. I have two sets of wheels, 16" stockers and 15" black steelies. I also have Rusty's 2.5" suspension lift. I'm thinking that using the 31" tires and 16" wheels will place my arms and shock mounts 1/2" higher from the ground than using the 15" wheels. Is this correct? Or will it all depend on the sidewall? Asking rather than diagramming...

only thing different between a 31 inch tire on a 15 inch rim and 31 on a 16 inch is the size of the hole in the middle  16 inch would actually have a small amout less sidewall

265/70R16 is a 31" Tire vs 31x10.50-15. With the 15" wheel make sure there is enough clearance with the brake calipers.

Again, makes sure you check the specs for the actual tire in questions. A lot of variations in what is sold as XX"'s.

31 X 10.5 R15's on black steelies will not work with a Rustys lift

245/75 R16 on OE wheels will work with OME suspension

if you look at say Goodyear MT/R's they are the same OD and the 10.5's are about .75" wider ,IIRC

Even a 30 X 9.5 R15 on steelies will rub bad over time with a Rustys lift

I some times feel that the 31 X 10.5 R15 on steelies with any lift gets beat into the ground
why would any one want to go through the headache?
Keep the OE wheels and run a 245/75 tire less rub and less headache
oh yeah and LESS MONEY because you do not need to buy rims
also if you wheel the 245/75 will hold up better at lower psi as most of them are 10 ply not 6
unless you run a bias ply tire on that 15" rim and good luck finding one that will fit a KJ

I already have both sets of rims, and am running the steel 15" right now with no issues.

How come, and where? I've got 235/75 on now with no rub before the lift. I guess I can't picture another inch causing issues after adding 2+ inches of clearance.

war...the backspacing you need on a 15" wheel pushes the wheel further out...which means it makes a bigger arc when steering, which causes your rubbing issues. If all you do is drive straight, then you should be good;)
