So I am looking tog et new tires.......I have been seiously looking into the Bridgstone Dueler Revos. Does anyone have them, heard anything about them, how they ride etc? I could really use all of your help on this one guys.

If you dont know anything about these. Give me your personal opinion of tire. I have a 2.5" lift so I am going to be getting 255/70/16 Mostly highway driving but off-road when I get the chance.

Tell me what oyu think I'm open to anything

I'm in the same boat - but I'd like to know which you all would recommend for winter tires (between the REVO, BFG AT and Goodyear w/SA).

For mostly on-road, with an occasional off-road excursion, Revo's are the way to go. There are many posts in this section that will attest to that. I've had mine for about a year and a half now, no issues at all.

I have no experiance with the revo's but can tell you for fact you can't go wrong with the BFG AT'S,I've had them on 6 trucks ( all 4x4) and have never had any issues & especialy for the amount of snow we CAN get around here just AWESOME,matter of fact they'll be going on 1 of my KJ's come spring these goodyear sra's suck :!:

BFG AT KOs are tried and true...you seem them everywhere! Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos have been tried by many on this board and are comparable to the KOs, but seem to have better on-road handling and less off-road capability. This is due to the KOs overall more aggressive tread. Some will argue either way, but both tires are a good median for on/offroad. Both are just leaning on side of the spectrum.

Cooper Discoverer STT's. Great tires had them since April. A little hard to balance but great traction. Agressive but pretty quite and good in the rain.

Hey BlackOps's What do you know about the Cooper Discoverer ST's Not the SST but just the ST. Do you know anything about them? and if so what do you think? I was looking at them and they look really nice and inexpensive. I actually think I might get them. I know cooper is a good reliable tire company and they look awsome.

ST's are more blocky and I think they would rub more and have more road noise. The place I got my STT's from actually mis-ordered and so I saw these tires up close. I would not want them on my Liberty. Olny because they looked alot rougher than the new tread. I think that is why they changed it to begin with. And believe me the STT's are pretty agressive and ride plenty rough. I couldnt imagine how the others would ride.

Just put on a set of Firestone Destination ATs, looked on the board for everyone on heres advice and read about the Revos but I got the Destinations ATs for 403 dollars and change installed out the door. Put the 245R70X16s on since no lift yet and the ride is night and day. 5 miles after I installed them down some old logging roads, cross some creeks, up over the hills in Southeast Ohio and the difference can not be described. The ride back home (250 miles) was quiet, smooth and could not even tell they have a more aggressive tread than the Goodflops it came with.
I would reccommend them to anyone. I actually like the looks better than the REVOs but that is my thoughts.

See my biggest worry with the firestones is the sidewall. It doesnt seem to strong and aside from that, Firestone has had some serious recalls in the past. I am just not so sure I trust them fully. I agree whit you on the revos part. Plus I hear that the treadwear is really bad. They (the revos) wear out quickly. Just my opinion and worrys about both the revos and the firestones destination at's
I think I might talk to my tire guy and see what he thinks of both the firestones and the cooper discoverer st. I know that cooper has been around for ever and they make a good tire. I just dont know if they are too aggressive for my needs. 95% highway 5% off-raod (ligh off-road) I'm still in grad school so free time does not exsist.

As Bridgestone and Firestone are one in the same, why would you trust one over the other?

It was the firestone side of the company that was having touble. Normally I would agree but for some reason it was only the firestones that had been recalled. Now dont get me wrong they havent had any (that I know of) for a while, but I'm still un-easy about it.

IMHO, all of these (BFG AT, Dueller and Goodyear w/SA), and any "all-season" tire (by definition), are inferior winter tires. They may be a good compromise for mud, gravel, or all-season, but they're a compromise, and not the best traction for snow and ice. Bridgestone Blizzak deliver the 3rd best traction of any I've tried; Gislaved Nordfrost studded (from Sweden) are the 2nd best (had on my Honda), and Nokian Hakkelapitta studded (from Finland) are the best - what I presently have on the KJ (and my wife's minivan).

If you're asking about tread wear, you're missing the point. Buy good winter tires, mount them on separate rims, and change them (yourself) every spring and fall. Good winter tires are supposed to be a soft porous rubber compound to grab the snow and ice, with small to medium sized gaps in the tread, lots of siping, and are 'supposed' to wear quickly. A tire with good wear characteristics will come at a compromise to its winter traction. Also FWIW, heat is what causes tire wear - taking them off in the spring makes a huge difference to the total mileage you get off them; Running them in the summer causes much more wear / mile to the softer rubber, than in the winter. Perhaps the guys complaining about their tire's wear, are using them all summer - ?

You'd need new tires anyway after about 3 years, so it's not that much more money. Besides, how much is that accident / injury worth to you or your family? Compared to the cost of the truck (and mod's??), a set of good winter tires aren't much more, and I think saves you money in the long run (as well as more fun to have better grip).

you make a good point there is no doubt about that. BUt, speaking for myself only, I dont have taht much money (still in grad school) so new rims and tires are out of the question. Then it comes down to what would be the best all around tire. I dont just live in snow. When it does snow there is normally not a whole lot on the road. So I am not looking for the best snow tire otherwise I would take your full advise. When it comes down to facts, money and then if theres room looks. You have ot look for the best all year tire this means Winter and summer not just one. If you want to donate a set of rims and tires to me, well then that is a different story and your are my new best friend. BUt if not. What do you think between these are the best year round tire. Firestone Destination AT's, Bridgestone Dueler Revos, General Grabber AT2's or Cooper Discoverer ST, STT, or SST. Your input would be appriciated.

Hate to throw something else in the mix,but if you are looking at the cooper tires,look at the cooper discoverer atr.not as aggresive as the other cooper tires ,but look like a good all terrian tire,ie not as noisy as on the highway and good tread wear.the siping has groove that go all the way to the outside of the tread ,so they look like that they would clean out good in nasty stuff..when i need new tires these are going to be my next tires

Post subject:  Cooper Discoverer ATR 235X75X16R
As a matter of fact I put Cooper Discoverer ATR's on my CRD. I checked out the 235X75X16R, they are 29.84" and will fit without rubbing on unlifted KJ's. N.B. these tires are only 7/16" narrower than a 245 and 3/4" smaller in diameter, thus providing 3/8" less ground clearance. Hardly visible!
I am very happy with these, traction is awesome, even in the rain. I did some research and these tires are pretty capable under just about any conditions. On the Aussie Cooper Tyre web site, they have a posting of some guys testing these tyres on a cross Australia trek (sand, mud, rock, fjording). After reading this I was sold! I have not done any serious off-roading yet myself, waiting for my lift!
