| Post subject: | 32" Super Swamper Possible w/ Frankenlift |
I want to know if a 32" Super Swamper TSL Radial will clear with a Frankenlift. I see people on here running the similar sized 265/75/16 in a different tire and tread pattern but not the Super Swamper. Right now I have the 2" revtek spacer lift with 30" Swampers and want the max ground clearance when I goto the Frankenlift later this summer. Let me know your thoughts and opinions. I dont mind some rubbing as I only run these tires when I go offroad. I did already trim and pound down the pinch weld in the front fender. |

I run 31x10.5x15 Super Swampers Trxus tires and they rub at full lock even with my Frankenlift II premium, chopped front bumper and bashed pinch welds. I also took off the rear sway bar, installed 3" rear bumpstops and when I articulate a ton in the rear, I rub there as well. If the rear sway bar was on, it doesn't rub in the back. So I am pretty sure you'll get some heavy rub with 32s especially because I think Super Swampers generally run large too. Max i'd ever go is the 26/75/16. |

May I ask what tools and methods you used to remove or reduce the front wheel well pinch welds? Why were they built there in the first place? Just to limit tire size? How can one patch up the wheel well after the pinches are removed? 2005 Sport manual trans. |

Well, I used a dremmel with a circular cutting blade on it for the bumper. I used the dremmel again for the pinch weld and a Big F-ing Hammer for the weld also. You can cut along the sides of the pinch weld and heat up the plastic with a heat gun and bend it up and out of the way to bash it with the hammer, then used said heat gun to melt the edges you cut back together. I just cut off the plastic around the weld, bashed and then sprayed 10 coats worth of bedliner on the weld to cover it up. It turned out great I think, but it isn't as pretty as some of the guy's on here. I have no idea why they extended the pinch weld out as far as they did. Seems like they could have stopped it well short of getting in the way. |

What would then be the closest equivalent to a 265/75/16 in a super swamper tsl since they dont offer it in that size, and I need it for a 15" wheel. |

31x10.5x15 I would think. |

So I would only be gaining an inch in diameter. I guess at this point its best to stay with the 30x10.5x15's ive got now unless someone here says otherwise. |

Do you need new tires? If yes, then upgrade the size and get the gain. If not, hold out and upgrade when you need tires. |

Dont need new tires. I was just looking to gain more ground clearance. |

Then I'd wait it out because the cost for the minimal gain is too large. I'd wear the tires out and slap on some new 31s. I was going to run the 265/75 but I wanted 15s as well and I got a much better deal for the 31s and 15s. |

That, and 1" in diameter only equals .5 ground clearance. If you went to a very narrow 32", like a 32 x 9.50 in a bias ( A big problem with fitting very aggressive tires is that their profile is more "square" thru the shoulder area with the aggresive lugs. Most all-season & even A/T radials have a nice low rounded shoulder. |

Why the bias ply? |

These tires would not be daily driven, they are for trail only. Ive got different road tires and wheels. So I would be ok with a radial though or do they tend to run larger in diameter than their bias counterparts? |

Do you know what size they ran and if they still run them? Yeah I wont DD these tires so offroad performance is key. Maybe they can chime in and have some pictures of it. |

let me look around for the thread, they looked great and of course they work even better than they look. |

found it: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... rok#338583 the tires are only 245/75/16, but still a sweet tire, they must be the relatively new Irok ND tire too, because that is that is the only size I saw that they make below a 33" and that only comes in the ND I think. The ND is awesome too because the other Iroks were a directional tire so a spare would only correctly run one direction or on one side of the jeep. But the non directional has a slightly different pattern and can run either way or side. Problem is they are a 16 and not 15 though. |

IIRC, those Irok ND"s were a test market deal & I am not sure if they will be a regular-line thing. Someone else here probably knows for sure. I did indeed say 32x9.5 as they are the narrowest 32's I could find & they are a bias. |
