Post subject:  Mud tires?

So, I've been shopping around for a good all terrain, all season tire, like the general grabber at2, or the bfg all-terrain. I am aiming for 245/70/16 since that should fit in my pre-lowered 02 kj with no rubbing. However, I know that when I am in deep mud, this still won't be enough. Now, since this is my daily driver, and I need something that can handle the snow and ice, I need a at tire, so here is my plan. I will shoot and try to get 4 general grabbers, in a 235/70/16 (stock size). They will give me all the edge I need for a basic trail, and the rigors of daily driving (even in the frozen north). With the money I will save getting the small tire, and only 4, I will invest in some basic rims, like the crager soft 8, and some mt tires to go on them. Since I am getting rim + tire, I don't really care if I go 16" or not. I just want something that is cheap, and functional, oh, and super agressive. I know the super swampers are a killer tire (from what I hear), so how much would a set of super swampers on rims cost me (roughly). To give you a idea of prices where I am, general grabber at2, for 5, in 245/70/16 will be just over $1000. Thanks!

my super swamper IROK ND's cost me 550 with free shipping BUT I'm lifted & those are in the 245/75 size, unless you go down a rim size & lift you won't fit swampers

my rock crwaler rims ( same as the soft 8's) I bought used from a member here for $100 for 6

shop around there usualy in the $50 each range for the 16, the 15's may be cheaper

your probably still looking close to $800 to $900 after mounting & balancing

Are tires and everything that much more expensive up there? I mean I have never priced out a set of grabbers AT2s here as I don't like them but I can buy 2 and a half sets of Kumhos for one set of them!!!!!

If all you are looking for is an MT then no need to spend a bunch of cash
get some "cheepo" MT's of any brand they will work just fine

I would get a lift and some 245/75's but that is just me
