For you I would say about 36/38, not sure what size, ply you have but somewhere in there, ( you will NEVER need to go to 85 lbs unless you are hauling 8000 lbs!

I run LT255/70R/16 BFG TA KO'S @ 40 psi on road. This seems to give me the best MPG. I have a question for you, or anyone, would psi should I air down to when wheelin' at places like Crystal Lake (dirt, mud, hills), etc.? |

CrossBones yes air down any time you are out wheeling, you want the tires to grip and sort of mold themselves over rocks etc instead of riding up on top of them, so yes air down helps a lot! |

the max inflation is 80, not 85. I run my LRE MT/R's anywhere from 35-38 front and 33-36 rear, and still knock down 21-22 mpg hwy if I drive like a sane person

Thanks. Is there a specific rule of thumb when it comes to airing down? IOW, how do you gauge what psi to air down to? |

Wild guess. Basically, pick a number that sounds good...drop by 2 psi every time you go out, until you de-bead a tire...then add 4 psi:) |

I have found, using Thunderbirds specs, 16.8 psi Right Front, 17.1 pst Left Front, 15.3 Right/Left Rear to be the best on my 10 ply MTR. |
