Post subject:  17" Wrangler HP's....
I have Wrangler HP's on my 2008 Jeep Liberty Limited. I see where some of you have Wrangler SRA's. Is the HP an OEM tire they put on the new Limited's?
We'll see how they do this winter. I had Goodyear SRA's on a 2006 Mazda 3 I owned and they were absolutely terrible in the winter. Any thoughts on this?

I've got a 235/65/17 Wrangler HP that was my original spare if anybody wants it. 0 miles on it. NoVA/DC/MD area.

The SRA's and HP's are pretty similar. As long as you don't have a bad winter you might make it through one. Wouldn't even try for two winters though.

The Wrangler SRA's and the Eagle RS-A's are both completely different animals in completely different sizes with completely different compounds and cannot be compared.

I'm kinda surprised that you didn't like the RS-A's on your Mazda...drove my ex-girlfriend's Civic this past winter that has factory RS-A's on it and I was pretty impressed. Still detest that awful little car though :lol:

That being said...I'm not a fan of any OEM Jeep tire aside from the MT/Rs on the '03-6 Rubicons and the BFG MT's on the '07+ Rubicons.

SRAs, STs, and HPs suck IMO.

I rode my HP's for one winter......we had a couple of big snow storms......and they also turned to "slicks" in the mud......enough of that........ and took them off and replaced with an A/T. Trouble is, that with the 235/65/17 size there were not a lot of A/T options at the time. I almost dropped to a 16" soft 8 rim but there were other issues. I ended up with Hercules Terra-Trac in that size....... Much better....... 17" rims are tough but maybe in the KK like foxy has, they will take a bigger size (bigger wheel well??) and or maybe there are more options now in the stock size.

Ditto on the OEM ST/RSA/HP tires being poor in wet/snow conditions. The only OEM Jeep tires that were good are the Fortera HLs on the Commander. The Fortera Tripletread is the best on road tire for SUVs per Consumers Report.

I have them both and swear by them but I also use snow tires in winter.

T-Bird......yeah, MTR's are good but don't come in her size the last I looked. A/T's might be a good choice for her usage.

And yeah, CR is bias and not even good for toilet paper. They need to make their pages more soft and absorbant.

I'm like alot of people on here I guess....I want a quiet tire, yet a rugged looking one. Won't be doing off-roading, but I like the rugged look. Is there such a tire?????

Hey, I will! I went with 245/65/17 Fuzion XTi's. no rub and I am still stock. 8)

Here are some pics for Silverfox. Mines a DD and these are quiet and hold like glue in the rain. Will have to wait and see if and when we get snow.

Those are looking good Drybones....and sounding good! Like I said...I'm looking for more rugged looking tires yet quiet driving. I'll keep that in mind. I wonder if you lose the warranty with them because you're putting on a larger tire than stock???

True!! I'm looking for someone with a KK that has changed out their OEM tires with something more rugged looking but that is pretty quiet also.

Maybe I'm looking too soon for someone with a KK to change out their tires......but I have a feeling once I go through this winter with my OEM tires I'll be looking. It was the same with my Mazda 3 I had. After 1 winter with the Goodyear SRA's I was looking for a good tire and bought some Cooper Discover tires which I was happier with at the time. Don't have the Mazda anymore, but the new tires were far superior to the Goodyear's :lol:
