This is LONG but PLEASE follow me and give opinions!! Yes I KNOW the bolt pattern is different, hence the spacer/adapter!! New math with more accurate info!! Basics: KJ stock rim is 16x7 w/5.5" backspacing JK stock rim is 17x7.5 w/6.25" backspacing We know 235x85x16 (32x9.3)work with pinchweld trimming on stock rims with 2.5" lift Most say that 265x75x16 (32x10.5) are almost too big with rubbing issues Consensus seems that most 235x85x16 run just over 32" while most 265x75x16 run under 32" So that leads me to believe the the issue is not height, but width 9.3" vs 10.4" (1" wider tire is .5" more outset) So, will 255x75x17 on a 17x7.5 JK rim work on a KJ with 2.5" lift?? Lets see....255x75x17 bfg says is 32x10 and real world tape measure confirms that. JK rim has 6.25 bs= .75" inset add 1" spacer= .25 outset So as I figure it JK tire wheel ends up .95" wider than the 235 on stock KJ's JK tire and wheel ends up .25" narrower than 265 on stock KJ rims. So give or take a little the JK combo with adapters is slightly narrower (.15-.25") outside width than the 265's on stock without the clearance issues with the rear sway bay due to overall width of the tire being less and moved to the out side. Do you think they will fit? Where are they going to rub? What needs to be cut beside the the pinchweld?? If this was my DD I would make them work, but is is the wifes, therefore I have to be a little more conservative. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marc |

your spacer will be 1.25 " thick, so that changes it some, at least any good ones (Spidertrax) are. clearance issues on the rear sway bar... |

I think the front is okay - Adapter = spacer however on the back I think the outside of the tire will hit the fender older Moabs at 16x8 - 5" BS so 3" outside of the brake face stock 16x7 5.5" BS so 1.5" outside of the brake face new Moabs 17x7.5 6,25 BS so 1.25 outside of the brake face - if it bolted up - however you add 1" adapter and now it's 2.25 outside of the brake face. so .75" better than older Moabs but .75" worse than stock rims. Folks who have tried 265x75x16 on Moabs or other 16x8's had interference problems tire to fender - so they back down to 16x7 - folks using stock rims can normally go to 265x75x16. and everyone running 265x75x16's are close and most end up with some kind of trimming the rear fender. so you have an extra .75" you need to clear. now you might gain 1/2 of that from the tire - however the 235,255,265 are section width - the wide part of the tire - that's not the problem - the problem is tread width - and almost no tire companies tell you that. So expect at minimum extra trimming - maybe extra tall bump stops on the rear. |
