Yup, I tried to search, and read hundreds of posts, but haven't found the answer.

I just purchased a KJ, and am planning a 2 - 2.5 inch lift, and will put on an ARB bumper right away. Lot's of answers to the tire size and lift question, but can't find anything definitive when the ARB is factored in.

Question:
- with 245/75/R16 will I have to trim anything with the ARB?
- can I use the stock rims?
- what if I used 31X10.5s (just cause I have them from my other Jeeps)... would I still have to trim (assuming the correct backspacing).

1) No trimming necessary to fit 245/75

2) Yes, you can fit 245/75 on stockers

3) Make sure they have the correct bolt pattern (CJs have 5x5.5, XJs, ZJs, YJs and TJs, have the same bolt pattern as the Liberty (KJ) -- 5x4.5)

You should keep the backspacing around 4-4.5 on a 7" wide rim and 5-5.5 on a 8" wide rim. You shouldn't run a rim wider than 8" or a tire wider than 10.5".

Don't use Skyjacker, Rusty's or any spacers. Buy the Frankenlift or OME HD springs, otherwise you will get severe sagging!!

Look for some of my pics if you can not find them let me know, I have OME Heavy Duty springs/ARB bumper and I have pics showing 245/75, 255/70 and 265/70 on 16 inch Moab rims 5 inch backspacing on it. 15 inch wheels will not work unless they are Soft 8s or similar
you will need to pound over the pinch weld as well or should

Just to clarify... see, I'm easily confused. LOL When you talk about the backspacing there Jeepkj02 - that's for if I go with the 15" rims right? Otherwise I can stick with my stockers and slap on 245/75/R15s and not have to space them out?

So if my understanding is correct, I have 2 options - buy some 245s and run 'em, or use the 31X10.5X15's I have and buy new rims with the right backspacing. Hmmm, decisions

And yah, I know about the CJ bolt pattern... hate having that difference every time I want to move my 33s from my CJ to my TJ. Wish it was easier.

I'll be asking about the lift in another post in the right thread, but yes it appears Frankenlift is the way to go, but since I am in Canadaland, the local shops sell BDS, Rough County or Skyjacker. I thought Skyjacker was a good company (not the spacer lift but the complete lift). And I haven't seen anything bad so far about BDS. Rough Country... well, I'll avoid that from what I'm reading.

i normally dont put on any tires when i have my ARB bumper on... i find they get in the way
