Looking for a definitive answer if I may...

I already know the ins and outs so to speak of the Cragar soft 8 saga with respect to their BS, bolt pattern, etc.

I have learned in so much reading here that WITHOUT a lift, the 16x7 with 4" of BS will be a better solution for my tires that are 245/70/16.

My definitive question is, will I have ANY rubbing with Cragar soft 8s (16x7 w/ 4" BS) on an unlifted 2003 Sport running 245/70/16s???? I have zero rubbing now, and never had to pound a pinch weld or trim anything. I am just tired of my alloy, peely rims and always loved the cragar soft 8s.....can I get away with this without any grief or am I definitely looking at rub issues. (I know for a fact that going to 16x8 Cragars with 5" of BS will be a bigger rub issue, so lets just just talk about the 16x7s)

anyhow, ready to pull the trigger and get in the jeep and drive straight to summit racing, just wanted one last bit of info from you guys.....hurry, money's burnin a hole in my pocket. LOL

I would say that yes, you are going to have rubbing with 4" BS. Just comparing to my setup. I added Cragar Black D's (same basic wheel as the Soft 8's, just a different shaped hole) a while back to my unlifted KJ. I went with 15x7 with 4" BS running 235/75R15. My combination is .4 inches narrower tire and .62 inches smaller diameter than your proposed setup. I had already pounded the pinch weld, so not sure if that would have rubbed. But I did rub front fenders at full lock. Especially when i would exit my driveway in reverse and the suspension would flex a little. I also had the rear tires bump the fender flares a couple of times entering and exiting parking lots. A 3-ring clevis lift fixed almost all of the front rubbing, but the rear still rubbed the fender flares. Daystar 2.5" lift fixed it all for me for good. Overall, I am glad I went with the 4" BS. I like the wider stance, and even though I hadn't planned to lift, I love it even more now that it's done.

Since you are going to have wider and taller tires than mine, I am sure you will see a little more rubbing than I did at stock height. I would suggest 4.5" BS. That will give you a lot less rubbing. Or just spring for the extra $160 and get a Daystar lift too.
