Post subject:  Have question about General Grabbers AT2
Soon i am going to need new tires and i was interested in getting the grabbers and was just wodnering how are these tires on the highway becuase i see that they are studded and im just wondering are they loud??? Right now i have the crappy 225/75/16 wrangler ST's and they seem to be quiet. I enjoy traveling a lot and i am nervous that if i get 235/70/16 grabber tires that they are going to be loud for highway use. So will i notice any difference in noise from going to the wranglers to grabbers??

the grabbers arent studded, they CAN be studded, they have holes in the tread blocks, but dont come that way.

they arent too loud, louder than a regular street tire, but nothing annoying or extreme that will annoy you, you might not even notice very much at all.

so if i went to my local mechanic and asked them to order the Grabbers they will not come with the studs??

They don't come with studs. You have to add them.. They are great tires. Light years better than the Wrangler ST's and not much louder.

And this is why you need to really REALLY think HARD about who you're listening to with tires, because it does not take much. the Wrangler MT/R gets better wet traction than the Wrangler ST...which is downright awful

Most people are only comparing their current tires to the garbage OEM tires and have no other benchmark. Spend a few more bucks and get something way better. If you MUST HAVE an all-terrain, get the BFGoodrich. it is FAR SUPERIOR to the Grabber.

The General Grabber AT2's I currently run on both of my KJ's are better than the following tires I have run on the 7 Jeeps I have owned over the last 20 years:

Goodyear Wranglers
Goodyear Wrangler ST
Goodyear Wrangler GSA
Goodyear Wrangler SRA
Pirelli Scorpion AT
Yokohama Geolander ATII
Dunlop Radial Rover RV

They are equal to the BFG ATKO I also ran for 30,000 miles in every way EXCEPT cost-- The Generals win because they cost nearly half as much in my size.

The Grabber AT2s I have are great on wet roads-- I have yet to spin a tire -- are relatively quiet and smooth, are great in the sand (my primary off road terrain), and downright phenomonal in the snow. I live in coastal Massachusetts and have driven them in snow and ice every day for the past month. Today I had to drive through 12" of unplowed snow and ice and watched the rooster tail they spit out in the rear view mirror as I plowed through in 2 wheel drive. I had to get out and clear the snow that was compacted on all four rims.

At 12,000 miles they are wearing totally evenly and barely noticeably with 1 rotation.

To me they are the perfect all terrain tires. If you need something more aggressive, look at some mud tires or maybe the Cooper ST's. If you want something more highway biased maybe the Pirelli Scorpion ATR's.

Have you used the General Grabbers ThunderbirdJunkie?
