sometime in the next month, i should be frankenlifted. so now Im looking for a 245/75/16 tire that performs well off road, but its my DD so it also needs good road manners. what tires have you had experience with.. which ones are good, and which should i steer clear of? |

Firestone Destination A/Ts. Great in snow, heavy rain, logging roads and lots of driving on paved roads. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... tion+A%2FT |

Treadwright Retreads -I love them and will buy them again when I need new tires. -Ive got about 15-20k on mine already and they are wearing and lasting longer than my last set of name brand A/T tires and these are way more aggressive. -They are cheap, but not poorly made. -They are very heavy since they only come in load rating E. -Great in the mud and snow. http://treadwright.com/Tires-245_75R16_OTR-P40.aspx |

Toyo Open Country A/T. The Toyo get's excellent off-road reviews for an A/T and performs great on the highway.

I went for the AT's though. I called and talked to them and they recommended the ATs over the OTRs for a longer tread life. But I realy like the OTR Tread design. I may go with them next time. Don't have a single complaint about them. http://treadwright.com/Tires-245_75R16_A_T_B-P102.aspx Stone tire is supposed to be good high-quality retreads too. www.stonetire.com |

Man, this is a can of worms if I've ever seen one. You're going to get a million different opinions on a million different tires. Are you going to be doing a lot of off roading? If you are doing off roading is it in mud or on rocks? If you are not going off roading much, do you need a tire that does well in snow and ice on roads? How many miles would you like to get out of them? Is it your daily driver? Answer these for us or at least yourself and that will direct you better as to what kind of tire you need. |

Its my daily driver, i dont go off road much, but i want to keep up with my friends when they do (xj, and cj 7) i see mostly mud in MI. and winters are pretty nasty. Im not too worried about a tire thats going to last me forever, because i will find a tire down the road that i like better and want to try. |

BFG KM2, MT/R, Cooper STT or the treadwright MT/R clone. There is no one tire that does it all. |
