I want to sell my old tires but keep my old rims that they are still mounted on. Without going to a tire shop, how can I dismount them myself? |

You CAN do it with pry bars and/or BIG screw drivers, but it is a lot of work. Let the air out & pop the beads by driving over them with another vehicle. Get the rubber bead pulled up over the rim & then work it over with the tools, working around until it is all off. Start over with other bead. A LOT of work. If you can get them there, most tire places would only charge a couple of bucks each to just take a tire off of a rim. Wally world charges $2 each. |

You can though it is a PIA if you don't own tire spoons. A set of hefty screwdrivers will do the trick but it takes some man handling. IMO it's easier to pay the 5 bucks per tire for a shop/garage to unseat them. |

There was a video I saw on Youtube, a guy dismounted a tire using a hi-lift jack and a bumper to break the bead. Looked pretty dangerous...let me see if i can find it. |
