Post subject:  Tire Options
I am almost ready to replace the tires on my kj that means time to lift target date is mid July august 1st at the latest i just need to know what kind tires to get

i currently have Dayton AT i like them but i live in fl and they seem to get loud when they get warn

remember these are going to be my only set of tires

Tread Wright all the way! I have over 30k on my 245/75 AT tires from them and they still have half tread left, and I only paid $90 each shipped to my house

new good year MTR came out, bro just got them for wrangler, look kinda funky in the tread but they are amaing and strong

Goodyear makes some excellent tires, but not necessarily the ones supplied as "stock" tires. Having ditched the stock Goodyears on my Jeeps, I went with their Wrangler Silent Armor tires on both my Jeeps. Great on-road tire. Handles snow and rain very well.
Mud? Not so much. But then, these are not wheelin' tires, unless you call parking in the yard wheeling.

The ideal situation would be to get a 2nd set of wheels with some aggressive mud tires and put them on when you want to go out to these places. Remember that Bear Island (Big Cypress) has inspections to get a permit and license to drive and you need a minimum 9" tread width (not tire width) or the rangers will fail you. Then all your friends will laugh at you because you do not have the coveted limited issue decal on your windshield.

In my case I was passed with my skinny tires because the inspecting Ranger noticed my UT plates, he was a Utahn we had a laugh and I was passed. I guess he figured I knew what I was doing.

I have had good luck with my MT/R and with good rotation, I've gotten good wear out of them on a daily driver (50K miles so far). There was an independent test a while back and although not entirely scientific, the results were interesting. The Goodyear MT/R came in 3rd behind two models of Super Swampers (Bogger & SSR). From what I hear, the MT/R has only gotten better.

No sir, they are not aggressive enough for ThunderbirdJunkie. He is currently rolling on 245/75-16 MT/R's, and will soon be rolling 31x1050 KM2s, MT/R-K's, or Cooper STT's...whichever tickles his fancy at the time.

Do have a set of five 245/75-16 DuraTracs at the shop that we'd make a really sweet deal on :roll:

well "super mat" is no more he dose not talk to any one im leaning tward the nitto or bfg rock time also supsedly knows another brand and can get me a deal we will see thats what was recomended to me
