| Post subject: | BFG T/A KO's vs. Destination AT's? |
Has anyone here able to give a comparison of BFG T/A KO's vs Firestone Destination AT's? I had some BFG's on an old Pathfinder and they were GREAT tires. Looking to upgrade my CRD's shoes, and the Destination AT's seem to get good reviews from LOST members, and are considerably cheaper than the BFG's. I am also considering the General Grabber AT2's and Mastercraft A/T's. My main use is on-road with the occasional foray off-road. No lift yet. (on the wish list though, when I get some other mods done) That's one of the reasons I was so impressed with the BFG's before. Quiet at highway speed, and wore extremely well. |

I ran the Destination ATs in the 245-70-16s for over 25000 miles and liked them, very quiet on the road, did great in all types of weather. Running BFG ATs in 265-70-16s now and about the same great ride, wear good and good in all types of weather. Destinations are hard to beat for the price for sure. Look at the Kumho KL78s they are about the same wore great had them in 255-70-16s did real good as well and price is cheap Ran them for 25000 or so as well. I get tired of the same tires after a while and switch out |

I ran 3 sets of the BFG A/T's on different vehicles and they are really good in my opinion. I never ran the Destination A/T's though, so I can't give you the comparison you asked for. Since I voted for the BFG's before I realized you were looking for a comparison, you can discount my vote.......sorry |

For the first time ever I've voted against my Destination A/T's. While the Firstone tires are nice, you get what you pay for. And with that - I mean the weak sidewall that is prone to being sliced open on rocks. The Destination A/T is a great on-road and forest tire. Which is what I primarily use my KJ for. But I do not consider it to be an all around tire.. For that, the BFG is better at doing more stuff without cutting the sidewall. If it were my money I would get a set of the Destinations for on-road and then buy a dedicated set of tires to head to the trail with (if it were ever required) But then again - the only things I ever run over are groundhogs. |

I have to agree with sleeve, the Destinations are fine for light off-roading, but just don't cut it or hold up to even moderate abuse. I am getting ready to replace mine with Grabber AT2s. |

go with the destinations, I have ran them for alil over 12K miles and they are excellent and barely any signs of wear. What size are you looking for bc im trying to sell mine and switch to the destination M/T's. PM me if your interested or go into the "for sale" or "Mid-Atlantic" thread and check for the 245-65-17 destinations. You'll be very pleased with the destinations and I think are a better choice |

I decided on the Destinations in the 245/70/16 size on stock rims; I am having them installed tomorrow. The price difference was just too much; the best quote I could get for the BFG's for everything out-the-door was $828, and I'm getting the Destinations for $535. I can't pass up a $300 savings on tires where the difference between the two is marginal, particularly for the applications I will put them to. Thanks for all the info and opinions. I would jump on your offer, quicksilver, but you have the 17" rims. Maybe try putting the rims and tires up for sale together - you may find someone wanting to pick up some Limited Rims? |
