Ended up at Meadow Creek Tire in Frisco... Nice folks - no BS... they had some black steels for $80 a throw and 10-ply KO's for $159... $1360 for 5 of each for the whole shebang... Should be squared away by next week.

FWIW - that beats DT.com buy $100, which should be enough money to buy Digger's beer.

Will obviously post some picks once it's all straightened out...

Stock size.. (LT225/75R16/E) Not in the market for a lift this year and I can't afford to even come close to rubbing. About 98% of my non-highway driving is off road and if they rub, I'mma find out.

That's pretty hardcore Digger... But I got you covered.

Well the goddamned tires rub. I should have checked before I left. The offset on the wheels is different by whatever it is and the tires come within about 1/4" of the wheel well at full turn They don't touch on flat ground but you could darn well predict they would with any flex at all. I didn't notice till I hit the beginning of my drive where there's a decent size runoff channel - and they weren't at full turn then, but I still got anice BRAP...

This sucks. Will call tomorrow to see what we do next. Who wants to bet they try to stick me for it?

Well, you probably went in there
and said
I WANT BLACK STEEL WHEELS

So they said "OK" and dug through inventory

"WE HAVE THESE THAT FIT"

and you said "OK"

You cannot return wheels once they've been mounted. Sorry dude.

Anything they do in your favor will simply be AWESOME customer service.

Well - what I actually said was "I want black steel wheels and BFG KO's in stock size. It's imperative that they don't rub."

They said "OK, we have to order some that fit"

I said "ok, are you sure the offset is correct? I don't know what the stock offset is"

They said "oh, the computer will take care of that"

I said "ok - you're sure?"

They said "It's no problem, we'll test fit the wheel before we do anything"

I said "ok"

The work order says at the top "TEST FIT WHEELS FIRST!!!" They test fit the wheel and said they fit.

They don't fit.

I spent sometime thinking about it last night and if I get any crap whatsoever from these guys, they're getting the wheels, tires, and a stack of pictures on their doorstep and they can argue it out with the credit card company.

Edit: I just got off the phone with them and it doesn't sound like it's going to be a problem. My insistence that the wheels and tires fit properly was pretty well documented and so far they say they're looking into what needs to be done to correct the situation. I'll keep you guys posted.

It's also well documented in this section what size wheels and tires fit. I would do your research this time so you know what to get before you go in.

Wow - what an informative post... Thanks daspes! I presume you mean the sticky at the top of the forum, the contents of which demonstrates the concept of offset, but does not specify the stock offset, or the other offset's that will fit.

The stock tire size is not even listed on the chart of BFG tire sizes. If I'm missing something here, please provide a link or copy/paste the offset's that will fit a 225/75R16.

Edit: Doing a search for "offset and stock and KK" yeilded a bunch of posts, but I only found one reference to the stock wheel being +40 - and no indication of what other offsets apply for the stock tire dimensions. There were a handful of examples, such as "mine's +25 and doesn't rub"... Well documented, my booty...

I wasn't trying to be a smartalec, but in 3 minutes I've found the following posts that deal with correct wheel size and backspace (all on the first 3 pages)...

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=41473

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=42620

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=42676

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=42388

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=41065

The size of the tire doesn't much matter on the KJ when it comes to wheels since every tire fits on a 7" rim, some of the bigger tires may fit an 8" but still belong on a 7".

Point being this is a well documented subject, to feign ignorance, is well ignorant. Search or ask if you are confused or need clarification, butit's not like the info isn't here.

Thanks daspes - can you tell me what terms you used in searching to find that info? Although I guess at this point it doesn't matter. The rims are 16x7, but the offset is obviously out of range... I'm still not sure what the whole range of sizes is, but I gather I should have asked for ~+40mm on a 7" wheel. And I disagree on the point that I didn't provide enough information... I specifically highlighted that I did not have the offset specs and was told that information would be supplied. That's not the same as "we cannot provide that information, please go find it yourself".

Just got back from the shop... No BS... They acknowledge that they took responsibility for spec'ing out the wheels and that they don't fit. They said they don't have a good alternative, but will mount the KO's on my stock rims and take the steel's back. Should have that wrapped up tomorrow.

It's a shame these don't fit - the KK looks sick with this setup. But until a lift is an option, it's just not going to work. And when I do the lift I'll probably end up with a 4.56 and 35's anyway.

lol... nope, but the KK is darn slow to begin with and as long as I'm going to jack the thing up and cut the fenders, might as well really do it, no?

with 35s you want 4.88s at least which of course we can't get anywhere close to

So looks like you're going to have to do a SFA to that KK

I guess it'll be 33's then - don't expect to make THAT big a project out of it.
