I found a killer deal on a set of 15x8 3.75" BS pro comp wheels and was wondering if they would fit? I didn't kno if it would clear the break calipers or not.

steel or alloy/aluminum?

What tires are you running. It would be better to run closer to a 5" bs on 8" wide rims?

They aren't the procomp rock krawler series.
I'm going to run 31x10.5. But why would it better to run 5" BS?

Yea I want them to stick out past the flaires. Thats why I questioned on the 5"BS that jeepkj was talking about

You're wrong Tom. Not only does he want less backspacing than 3.75", he wants RK's 3.5" lift stacked with a JBA 6 inch lift!

You two can really be stupid holes sometimes, TBJ more then Tom ... but still ... If the guy wants a wide look who are you to say that he can't do it.

What do you know about his finical situation? A comment like that is way out of line.

And look at this ... another useless, sarcastic & pathetic post by TBJ. I am a little surprised tho, no stupid third person reference ... What's wrong TBJ, your slacking on your third person references.

I'm gonna have to agree with Mike on this one. Not sure where you and TBJ get off Tom but your info is wrong and the condescending attitudes are worse then ever.

I ran 15x8 steel wheels with 3.75 backspacing. Never ripped a fender off, and only a little rub while in reverse at full lock. Never caused me a single issue.

what ever but still going to have some more problems than with a 4 inch on a 7 inch wheel or 5inch back spacing on an 8

and condescending .....you are so funny , you have to know where I am coming from with the comment before you start

"what ever"?

Is that your answer to being wrong? Well, I am wrong and don't know what I am talking about, but "what ever"????

You just need to get your facts straight before you talk down to someone like you have any idea what you are talking about.

x2. Also agree with Inc. "Condescending attitudes" is something I keep thinking to myself after posts like these. Plus, financial comments are rude and irrelevant.

I'm running 15" wheels with 31s, and like the look more. It's personal preference. Has to be steel, and they do just barely clear. Might as well live dangerously, right?

I don't know if you've ran the size before, but the 31x10.5 will rub a lot until you do all of the extras (bumper trimming, pinch weld pounding) but look great in the end. Looks like Inc has you covered on the BS aspect.

No comment Mike , we'll discuss this in PM if you want not here  8)

PLUS what most of you fail to see and read is that fact that at least here in the midwest there are a ton of TJs running around with the wheels sticking way out past the flares ( on stock suspension) because they got the wrong back spacing and it looks goofy. One guy asked me how I was able to buy wheels that did not stick way out as he couldn't find any. he just bought waht the dealer wanted to sell him.

Thats what I am talking about! Plus without knowing what tires hes running you can not say it will not tear off the flares.

The comment had NOTHING to do with how much money he had, see how you read things that are not there!
You have to spell everything out to some so you don't get attacked

This is all too funny to me

What is there to discuss Tom? How your attitude towards members here is garbage and uncalled for? Or maybe that you don't know what you are talking about half the time? Feel free to PM any more of your "what ever" answers.

Coulda fooled me. . Just hard to tell what people mean on forums. Can't tell how you meant for it to "sound", all we have are your words (which you deleted... wonder why  ). Everyone knows you mean good, but sometimes you just have to be overly cautious.

First off if you would look in my sig you would know what I am going to run, even tho I have made a few posts on here about different tires/wheels and whatnot bc I was still undecided and im trying to find the best deal for my money situation, and I stil am, bc im starting out college in 4 days and my tuition and books are very very EXPENSIVEEEEE!!!
And if I tear off my flare big deal, thats my problem, Im a stupid 18yr old kid who wants to experiment so I can have good knowledge and experience like most of you all have here on this forum. I really love the help that everyone gives to me and to other people who might not know as much bc they are inxperienced in this field of play and it also really helps.

EDIT: Oh and also I dont have a stock TJ btw   ...they just look funny to begin with.

To the poor college kid who is the OP:
The only thing I would add concerning 15" wheels was the concern that they clear your brake calipers. If you've already checked, or this was discussed and I missed it, okay. I gotz old eyes and don't read so good anymore.
Also be aware that if you tear off a flare and your state requires coverage for licensing, you'll be out a big chunk of change. Just something to factor in when you're pricing those textbooks.
I'm a big advocate of customize your Jeep your way... it's your Jeep, your money, go for it. If you do something to it that looks totally stupid, you'll feel your ears burning when you slow down next to your buddies.
As far as doing things to your Jeep, I've seen all sorts of things done, to include lighting it all up like a Christmas tree (but not for the holidays), spinners, lowered and bling-bling wheels, a big spoiler fin, etc. etc.
I have an almost stock TJ by the way. It doesn't look funny. Funny is the Subaru drivers sitting there looking sad wanting to pull out in traffic and lacking the power to do so.
Enjoy your school year! Is this your first year?

1st you may or may not clear the calipers with a 15" alloy rims, test fit one 1st before going any farther.

I have ran both a 16x8 rim with 3.75" BS and a 16x7 rim with 4.5" BS,same suspension(same everything) and ripped my rear flares off all the time with the 8" wide rims with 3.75" of BS running the same 265/75R16(31.5") MT/R's,no issues with the 7" rim and 4.5" of BS.

Now if you bumpstop the living s$%t out of the rear(IE no rear flex) and massively pound the pinchwelds down in the front you can get away with 3.75" of BS with a 8" rim and 4"+ lift.

Personal experience and not my opinion or hearsay.

ok so now were gonna crack "the poor college kid" jokes. HEY stupid IM ACTUALLY TRYING TO DO SOMETHING WITH MY LIFE UNLIKE A CERTAIN PART OF AMERICA WHO SITS ON THEIR A$$ES ALL DAY BUMMING OFF OF EVERYONE ELSE  .
tomsjeep: I know about the break calipers...thats why I was asking if they would fit or not bc there are some wheels that fit (cragars) and some that dont (D**K cepek). And if I tear off a flare I will replace it...duh   . And how is it going to look stupid when my tires will be sicking out like 1/2in past the flare? maybe not even 1/2in. Also its not like I have a stock liberty, I do have this invention called a lift. I have seen tires that stick out past flares, with a lift, on a liberty, does it look funny? no it doesnt. If it would I wouldnt do it. And where the heck do you live that you see jeeps with all that stufff? crazy town?
btw yes it is my first year

Not cracking on you kid... been there myself, but that was when we had to turn in our essays carved in stone tablets!
There have been a couple of threads discussing wheel fitting on here (buried someplace and I suck at search) that mention the steel Cragar Soft 8's in 15" size fit, but most other's don't. I'd have to say try it and see. You never know. (the reason I say that is Jeeps have a habit of being very individual anyway. A 2" lift on one might cause driveline vibrations while on another of the same model no vibes at all. Check it and see, it's the only way to be sure)
And I don't know that something will or won't look stupid. It's your Jeep, and your call. And no, I'm not saying that what you're planning on doing is going to look any particular way. I do have a stock Libby, with the exception of fatter tires.
I'm living in Massachusetts, and driving through Conn. you see all kinds of interesting things, but the Internet is a great source of entertainment for something to laugh at.
I used to teach freshman & sophomore art classes at Ohio Univ. Freshman year is a great time, even if a little overwhelming. A chance to reinvent yourself, and explore a lot off things. Sounds like you've got a good start, experimenting with your Jeep. Post pics when you get some of this stuff done, 'kay?
