| Post subject: | REVIEW: Treadwright OTR-S |
SIZE: 265/75/16"
These tires, as you may know, are recaps. They are kind of loud but not to bad. When I first got them I gave them a test run on the beach and some of that was very deep dry sand. No problems at all. The real test was the East Coast Safari held in Coal Creek Off Highway Vehicle Area in Tennessee. We had 3 days of mud and rocks, also mud covered rocks! I aired down to 18lbs. and they did real well. In mud they did as good or maybe a little better than the Cooper Mud Radials that I took off. They seem to grip well on the rocks also. Last weekend 3 of us from the Matanzas Jeep Club here in Saint Augustine went to check out some trails. We spent about 4 hours running some forested trails in typical Florida land. It was flat and very wet. The trails had some pretty deep holes that were muddy and filled with water. The only time I had any trouble was when I landed on top of a submerged stump. I had to be strapped on that one! The next in line, a Wrangler, also hit it and had to be strapped out. The driver behind me was impressed with the amount of mud I was throwing all over him so the tires were cleaning out well. He went though a lot of windshield washer fluid! I paid $87.00 each for the tires and so far I would say for that amount of money they are fantastic! I don't have anything bad to say about them at this time. Terry |

I agree they look kind of funky, but if they work, that's all that counts. On a side note, Treadwright has changed the names of there tires, I read something due to copy right laws or something like that. MTG's ( goodyear tread look) are now "Gaurd Dog" OTR's ( Terry's tire above) are now "Howler M/T" ATB's ( BFG AT tread) are now "Warden" They also currently have some of the 265/75/16 tires on sale right now, also some new one in D & E load range. Sorry if I highjacked ya Terry |

No problem. I didn't know they changed the names. Ya, the design is a little strange but if you look at all the angles on the treads they cover just everything. Terry |

Nice review! I keep hearing good things about Treadwright tires. My tires are almost done and I think I am going to get a set of the Treadwright MT/R's. |

Good review, Terry. I am pretty sure that Greg is happy with his too. They seem to be the way to go for most of our applications. I don't remember, did you specify which sidewalls you wanted them built on? |

I don't remember, did you specify which sidewalls you wanted them built on? Yes, I asked that they all be on Goodyear All-Terrain T/A. They were...all 5 of them! Terry |

My jeep was just stolen by my wife, can someone tell me what the stock size is for tires on the KK? I have the gunmetal/silver (stock?) wheels on it. Possibly what size "Could" fit with the 2" lifts by RK, or similar? |

I run treadwright's and for the money I think they are a fantastic tire. Miner were 402$ for four of them shipped. |

From the picture of that tire, I'd have to question the vulnerability of the weak looking smooth sidewall. Driving over rocks on a trail is one thing, but there is no sidewall / shoulder bite for climbing rocks or rock walls. Regardless, I won't run retreads on my semi dump trucks so it's a safe bet I'd never run these tires on my DD. |

Im Running the TreadWright ATB 245/75/16 and off roading in mud they handle better than i thought they would. But on road is horrible. The rubber used for the tread is very soft compared to the BFGoodrich rubber and it causes a lot of sway on my truck. The rubber is so soft i can move most of the treads with my fingers. For the money i guess you cant really complain but next time im opting for the real BFGs. Also i got Kedge Grip, dont know if that would make the rubber softer. |
