P-metric or LT-metric?

I have been reading the lift and tire setups that members have here, but I have not seen anyone specify whether they are running P-metric or LT-metric tires. Which type should I assume most people have?

Both is the simple answer I guess

Kind of depends on what you want, where you live as to what you need, type of tread and type of tire, size of tire etc. .

Depends on what you want, I went from the factory St's p metric and did the same size with LT's in a ten ply, world of difference. If you don't do a lot of gravel or off road then the P metric should be fine.

Thanks, gents.

The reason I asked was because I thought most All Terrain tires were LT-metric until I found a Consumer Reports rating of AT tires where BFG TA K/Os were not even considered, then I found that it was a test of P-metric tires only. Most other reviews I have found seem to be evaluating LT-metric only.

According to Toyo, the only downside to replacing P-metric tires with LT-metric ones is that they "may cause unacceptable vehicle ride and handling qualities."

It’s my opinion to stay with a “good quality” P-rated tire unless you are going to hit some very rocky trails with jagged rocks and broken exposed tree roots. TOYO for example makes a good quality P-rated Tire. I’ve had friends in the past buy poor quality P-rated tires and be struggling with flat tires all the time. Others who have bought good quality P-rated tires have used them off-roading in different types of terrains with no flat tires. Sidewall protection is important when off-roading. In some cases, your LT Load C or Load D will offer better sidewall protection. It really depends on the tire manufacture, how the tire is constructed, the type of driving condition, and the quality of ride you are looking for. A P-rated tire acts as a suspension in itself, the sidewall flex is nice allowing for a smooth and comfortable ride.

My P-metrics have been wheeled on trails all over SoCal, Washington State, Moab, The Badlands in Attica. Never blown a bead, or punctured a sidewall.
