I am now trying to find tires for my 06 CRD since the lift installation is done. I am on the fence of which tires to buy, since this is my daily driver and off road rig. Right now i am leaning towards BFG AT KO's. Thought about the MTR's, but when i had my rubicon the tire noise annoyed me driving every day. I see the new MTR's have a different tread pattern and wondered if it was due to the road noise. Any input?

What tires do you have, what do you like or what do you dislike about them? Where did you buy and how much did you pay?

I know a couple guys with the new MTRs on Wranglers and they claim that they are a lot quieter than the old style. Haven't ridden in any of them so I couldn't say how much.

I have Silentarmors on my KJ (which is only 2wd atm) and I am VERY impressed by how well they do in the snow. They're actually better on ice and slippery surfaces than my old MTRs were. They worked pretty well on the granite when I still had 4wd, too.

I would say a X2 on the Silent Armors. Quiet, good in winter conditions. Decent in all the other areas too. 8)

i'm running Icelander MT 31's and i love 'em. Here's a link to the sight http://www.greendiamondtire.com/

Had mine installed June '09. Ran 'em all the way out to Colorado for the safari and back. Suprisingly quiet on highway for an MT and relatively smooth but still louder and slightly harsher than an AT. Tires have worn very evenly over the many highway miles (another concern i had switching to an MT) and not wearing too fast.

As for offroad they have been incredible thus far through mud, over shale, snow and anything i've thrown at them. They performed incredibly at the Ouray safari. Only thing i haven't yet put them on is slickrock but anticipate they'll do very well due to the carbide granules.

My :2cents:

Good luck!

I'll throw my .02 in here, for a DD (which my Jeep is also) I wanted an off road tire that would keep it's on road manners (meaning tread life ect.) I went with the new(ish) Goodyear Duratracs. They do have a little more sound on the highway than any on road tire would, however they're quieter than most MTR's (if you care about that) I have about 5k on um so far and I can't see any tread wear, and I've only been stuck with them once.

I ended up getting the BFG AT KO's at sams club. I got the best deal from there, had money off and rebate. I considered the duratracks but they were going to take longer to get, and i needed tires sooner. Right now i am trying to solve a little driveline vibe that a get at acceleration.
