How Loud are General Grabber AT2's

I read a lot of reviews and quiet a few said the AT2's are somewhat louder than most AT tires. Just curious if others found this true and how much louder are they at say highway speeds?

My dealer called and asked if I was interested because he was getting some in a few weeks and knew I asked about them a while back. I'm happy with what I have but cant pass up a good deal (or leave well enough alone), plus I was going in anyway to get a matching spare ATR so now I can just get all new. LOL (poor justification I know)

They are quiet at highway speeds. I find that they are loud in the 35-45 MPH range. Not deal-breaking loud, just louder than a street tire.

Depends on tire pressure and wear, too. I have 12K miles on my Grabbers and since I started running them at 30 psi on the street instead of 35 (softer ride), they're noisiest at 30 mph. Above 35 mph, I barely hear them with the windows up. I still recommend this tire. I took them offroad again last Sunday, and they got my through sand, pea gravel, packed dirt, and mud just fine. I've rotated them every 5,000 miles, and the treadwear has been minimal. I believe they'll make it the warranteed 60,000, if I don't sell the KJ first.

I dont mind a little noise at lower speed, I just didnt want something real loud on the highway where I drive most of the time. I want to be able to hold a normal level conversation or hear the radio without turning it up to 50. :lol:

There were a few reviews that said they were much louder than a normal AT and two people stated they exchanged them within a week due to the noise. So I wanted to see how much more noise I would expect.

I've got a couple of thousand kilometers on mine now and they are quieter than I thought they would be. Great tires overall...

That good to know, I just wanted to make sure before I decided on getting them. Didnt want to wind up with anything too loud.

The reviews were kind of all over the place so I wanted some kind of confirmation.

I've always thought they were as quiet as my stock tires. The only problem I'm having is 1 is cracking around the sidewall near the tread and another has terribe tread wear. The center is almost gone. I've rotated them every 3K or 6K depending on the weather when I change the oil. I've been checking the tire pressure and they're all good. Not sure whats going on but they are quiet.

Kind of a loaded question and the answer depends on your basis for comparison
That being said on our KJ we went from a 225/75 16 Goodyear Wrangler AT/S in a C load range to the 245/75 MT/R with the ultra heavy E range and found some noise at 30-40 mph but other than that not bad at all

Would I recomend this tire?
That would depend on several things the bigest 1 being price
We got 5 for $250 + m&b so all told we got 5 MT/R''s on the jeep for just over $350 ,2 brand new 2 <5K miles on them and 1 ~8-10K for a spare.
Knowing what I know now would I buy them for a DD and pay retail NO I would go with something less agressive
Would I buy nother set for $250 for a DD? HECK YEAH!

as far as noise from a General Graber I would guess it would be close to what we had from the AT/S's and I would say it is none at all
When compaired to the MT/R how ever hen compaired to a standard all season tire they will be noisy

Well based on what everyone has said, I dont think there will be much increase in noise since I'm riding on a AT tire now. The Generals just look more aggressive then my Coopers so I was wondering how they would compare.

I saw some Cooper ST's mounted on a jeep the other day and I liked those too, might look into it further (all depends on the price). They sell them all over, including at the Benny's down the road from me so I dont think it would be a problem getting them.

My tire guy said he would hold the Generals for me because not too many people ask for them, so I have time to make up my mind.

That's the same exact response I got from every tire dealer I talked to...for such a great looking tire with high warranty, not to mention how nice they make the KJ look, you would think these would be in high demand...funny to hear other people's tire providers say the same thing. I ended up with Vatiiva's. One thing that rocks on the Grabbers is that heavy duty rim protector. That's a big bonus in my mind. I like their open tread design as it hits the shoulder of the tire...makes it look almost like a mini-mudder.

When I'm on the second floor of my home, I can hear my wife approaching in the KJ from three houses down. That's a good benefit at times! Our KJ and the '05 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon across the street have the loudest "approach" of all the vehicles on my street.

I've seen the girl across the street who drives the Rubicon, and she's smokin'! Previous owner couldn't sell his house, so he rented it to not one but five hotties in their twenties. They're not very neighborly though. Only two have introduced themselves to my wife and I. I think being surrounded by young kids has them freaked out. :lol:

When I was in my twenties, parenting was the last thing I wanted to do. I'm sure they feel like fish out of water with nothing in common with their neighbors.

Good tires, can barely hear them. Heck, my roof basket drowns them out no problem.
