So I am using a 245/75/16 MT/R. and of coarse they are wearing unevenly, and sound like dump on the road. So one day I went and asked a tire shop if it was because of shocks, or struts, and the guy told me it was because of the pressure being so low in the tires, well I had about 45 psi in all of them, and he told me that the tires should be up to 80 psi for them not to wear, and that it would be a rough ride with that much air in them, and that those tires were made really for off road, and were suppose to have low pressure only on the trails, and thats why they wear so bad. :? Is there any truth to this, and if so what pressure should I run them at? I should have just got the BF Goodrich All Terrain in the first place, so now I need to start saving.

I'll give it a try, its just it feels like they are hoping, and thats whats causing that terrible road noise. Thanks for the reply.

Are they OEM Rubi take-offs, out of curiosity? I sold my MT/Rs and got a set of Dakota M/T's and I am much, much, much happier.

IMHO, the best way to make those things last is centramtic balancers. $200 a set.

Your alignment and the lack of 3000 mile rotations are why there wearing funny and loud.Once they are worn funny there is no fix, just got to live with it and it will get worse.

When I was running the MT/R's 38psi was the best for wear and ride.like stated if they were rubicon take-offs is a issue, they were not the same as production MT/R's and designed to wear fast. The MT/R's are a far superior tire then anything BFG makes.

Depends on the situation... I found them to be less then impressive in mud.

I really just wanted a tire that would be good on road, and still be effective in the sand. I dont do too much wheeling, because of lack places to do it, but like to have a good tire just in-case. But thanks for all the help I will try the lower psi, and rotate them every now and again.

Everyone I've ever talked to has said the MT/R is the worst offroad tire on the market. They suck in mud, are only marginal on rocks, wear too fast, and are way overpriced. Most guys here now avoid them like the plague, and I have always done the same.

On the flip side of the coin, my buddy ran BFG KMs on his Tacoma in the 33x12.50 size and I personally watched him beat the living crap out of them for a solid 70,000 miles before they finally had nothing left. I was witness to it, otherwise I wouldn't believe it either. That made a HUGE believer in BFG out of me...and he has now found a used set of BFG KMs to replace those with. As long as he can find KMs somewhere, he'll run them.

See it's the complete opposite every where else but your town.

They kicka$$ on the rocks out here in CO,and as long as they are not rubicon takeoff's or the sticky versions(40"+ sizes) they last longer then most MT's.
