Post subject:  Need Tire help/advice!!!!!

I will be lifting my KJ within the next 2 weeks(just waiting on the brown boxes to arrive) and now I am starting my seemingly never ending search for tires. Originally I was going to get a 245 75r16 to be used on my stock renegade rims until I find some Moabs or other comparable rims with a 4-5 inch backspacing. I can get purchase a set of 265 70 r16 tires for a price much cheaper than comparable tires in a 245 75. I understand the 265 will be the same height and roughly an inch wider than the 245s. Will these tires fit on the stock rims with my (soon to be)2.5 inch lift or will they be too wide and cause issues rubbing? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I would not mount 265s on stock rims, thats just asking for trouble. Your stock rim is probably a 16x7 and I would not put that size of tire on anything smaller than a 16x8.

This is all opinion as I own a KK, but with the tire investment, I would mount them on better rims

265s will look great and work great on stock wheels. I'm running 255s, and this is the most narrow tire that begins to look decent and fill out the wheel wells in my opinion. I'd love to bump up to 265s myself. When you get yours, post pics please.

Actually your are wrong,265's on a 7" rim will be better then being mounted on a 8" rim, more so if you play offroad and air down.I ran 265/75's on 16x8 rims and it sucked, mounted the same tires on 16x7 rims and was a world of difference for the better. My 265/75R16 Trxus MT's actually had it stamped on the side to only mount on a 16x7 rim.Only go to a 8" rim for 12.50 tires and 13.50 wide tires.
